I bet delaware last game not knowing the suspensions and paid the price....clearly last game was the best to fade but i still think there is value in this as well. Hereere is some info on the team...
The top team in the Colonial Athletic Association got a big blow on Wednesday afternoon. The University of Delaware announced the suspensions of junior guard Jarvis Threatt and sophomore forward Marvin King-Davis for “separate, unrelated violations of Athletics Department policies” and will be out until “at least the end of February.”
Also suspended was a women’s player, freshman guard Shanice Johnson, a Philadelphia native and Cardinal O’Hara grad.
“This athletics department has very high and very clear expectations of our student-athletes,” Delaware Director of Athletics and Recreation Services Eric Ziady said in a release. “When these expectations are not met there will be certain and consistent consequences. Our student-athletes will take ownership of the decisions they make both on and off the court.”
Threatt has started 19 games this season and leads in the team in assists (5.4apg), steals (2.3 spg), and minutes played (36.9 mpg). He’s second on the team in scoring (17.9 ppg) and third in rebounding (5.8). A third team All-CAA selection in 2012-13, Threatt leads the CAA in both assists and steals.
King-Davis, a 6-7 sophomore forward, has played in all 21 games this season with 19 starts, averaging 5.8 ppg and 4.4 rpg while ranking second on the team in blocked shots with 18. His absence leaves the Blue Hens very thin in the frontcourt, with Carl Baptiste having a solid season (9.9 ppg, 7.4 rpg) but no other true big man averaging more than Maurice Jeffers‘ 0.6 ppg and 0.4 rpg.
The suspensions come at a terrible time for coach Monté Ross and the Blue Hens, who had won their last eight games in a row, including their first six in CAA play, to improve to 14-7 overall. They’d already dealt with the month-long suspension of starting guard Devon Saddler earlier in the season, and finally seemed to be putting it all together after a rocky start to the year.
Now, Threatt and King-Davis will be out for at least the next nine games, with only one regular-season conference game (March 1 at Charleston) for them possibly to return for before the CAA Tournament begins on March 7 in Baltimore.
