The whole reason for this was a 57% cut in school funds that happened last year. Colleges aren't broke, even colleges like this. You sure can sue them, and JSU has a case. Money from ticket sales (they actually do more ticket sales than a number of FCS schools because of the band), concessions, parking, TV/radio revenue (yes, there is some here), all of it was lost because poor little Grambling didn't want to pway wast week.Comment -

With state schools, the state itself decides how to allocate the money. Without the right political sway, certain schools could get the shaft, and that looks like that's what happened here. A 57% cut?? They're lucky the school didn't sell the weights for scrap.
Endowments play a part too because that frees up booster money to go straight to athletics if you want it to, so turning out successful people plays a part. Undergrad-wise, Grambling has about the same enrollment as Wake Forest does. Grambling's endowment? 4.5 million. Wake's? 1 billion. Yep.Comment -

A million isnt an astronomical figure when you consider it was their homecoming. Their losses would include other events that were booked for homecoming- concerts, dances, etc that were subsequently cancelled. I dont think theyre saying they lost a million in profit. Theyre saying they lost a million in revenues.Comment
