Yep, and this same scenario come up from time to time. Three or four years ago, Ohio State was favored by 43 vs. New Mexico State. The total opened around 47. Final Score: OSU 45-0.

Because that is the way you get your defense better and game prepared. The other team quitting because the score is so high ie most Oregon opponents doesn't help your defense get ready for the big game.
