    Want a bonus?
For A rated books, take them. They will treat you fairly. If you want a bonus from a B (or even risk a C book), you can make your life MUCH easier. Before you deposit, email the book's customer service. Confirm the amount and rollover on the bonus. Be sure to include the name you will deposit under, and the amount you intend to deposit.

If there is a problem, it will usually appear before you deposit. "Your site doesn't say there is a $250 limit" or "What do you mean I need 20x rollover now?" are things this will avoid. If there is a problem later, you have a clear record of what exactly you received.

If you are a professional player, I recommend you also state the following in your email:

    "Dear sportsbook:

I am a professional player. Can we agree that if you later decide you do not like my action that 1. I will keep a pro-rated portion of the bonus based on rollover I have met, and 2. My balance will be paid immediately to Neteller (or payment of your choice).

Most books either don't care, or don't understand when a player identifies himself as a professional. If they agree, you won't go through a hassle getting your money or bonus when done. If they don't want you, there are plenty of other places that do.

This must be a joke. Show me a book offering a bonus without mentioning it's intended for recreational player/use.

I agree with the general premise about getting things in writing beforehand, however I find this bit rather odd and naive:

Contrary to the thread title, I would say that is what you would do if you DON'T want a bonus. I suppose there is a vaguely admirable honesty to that, but for a professional who actually does want bonuses, the object of the game is to make books think you are not professional for as long as possible. That's just the way it is.

To me that would be kind of like entering the Tour De France and sending them a letter saying,

          Dear Tour de France,

I sometimes take performance enhancing drugs. Here is what I would like to have happen if you decide you don't like that . . .

As I say, it is admirable honesty but . . . well, if anyone else wants to send that letter around then okay, but I believe I'll pass.

Try it. I have never been turned down for a bonus, and never had a bonus problem, even when beating a book for 5 figures. I have had my accounts closed, but always with a "clean" goodbye.

Most of the top-tier books don't have the "recreational bettor" requirement common in junk books.

              I have to agree.

My usual m.o. when clearing out a bonus is to get things in writing ... doesnt do any harm to have things clear in writing and helps me sleep better.

              My standard email is

              Dear XXXXX,

I like betting but I like making a profit more. Hence, your bonus caught my eye.

Could you clarify what the rollover reqs are and confirm if I deposit $X I will get X% bonus.

My usual method is to look to match out my bets using arbs and then we would, sadly, part ways again. Should you decide you dont like my action can you confirm the bonus will still be paid?

              Many thanks

              XXXXX
