          1 large onion, chopped
          3 cloves garlic, minced/pressed
          2-3 jalapeños or serranos, chopped
          2 lbs ground venison
          1 lb ground pork
          1 can plain tomatoes, crushed
          1 can Rotel tomatoes
          Chili powder
          salt
          pepper
          cheese, grated
          bag of fritos

If you have any bacon drippings, start with a few tablespoons of that; if not, then the oil of your choice. Combine bacon drippings, onion and peppers in pan, sauté for a few minutes, season with some sea salt and fresh ground pepper. Add ground pork and ground venison, brown. Toss in tomatoes plus a cup or so of water. Add chili powder (I'd say at least 3-4 tablespoons). Stir, let simmer for 45 mins to an hour. Serve over Fritos and top with cheese.

not a chili recipe but take the back strap and wrap in bacon. marinate in italian dressing for an hour or so. Then grill. make you slap yo momma.

My dad just brought us some venision yesterday also. although no back straps
only ground, sausage, and cubed. My plans are the same as yours. Families gonna be sick of deer meat this year.

You can substitute with cheetos or doritos.

I can't eat chips or anything crunchy for a few more days. But if I could, I'd have chili with Fritos right now.

                                Willie, no.

What the hell is a frito pie?

                                Is this an American thing?

I usually put parmesan on my chili.

Not sure it's an American thing, but I do know that I've never had it or even seen it on any menu in the other 15 or so countries I've traveled to over the years. Basically it's just chili ladled over fritos and topped with cheese. There's a recipe for how to do one variety below, but I've never really baked it like that. If you have a favorite chili recipe of your own, do yourself a favor and try it.

if you eat chili you must put fritos in it, no ifs, ands or buts about it

Wouldn't the purpose of killing the deer for free meat defeated if CaneDawg spends all his money on fritos?

This actually sounds good because a) I like chili b) I like cheese and c) I like fritos.

I'm going to give it a shot.

You're right, Pavy. My bad. Not to mention trying to talk him into spending money to operate the electric or gas range to cook the chili, plus more money on the pork that would go into making venison sausage, the onions and peppers and cheese, and if he's smoking the sausage there's that expense and we haven't even factored in his time as part of the whole shebang.

CaneDawg, next time you're out hunting just go up and bite the deer and that way you won't even have to worry about expenses like cartridges for your rifle or that pesky hunting license...you do have a hunting license, right?
