Without Cam Newton, Nick Fairly, and other high salaried players, he hasn't done well at all. You can't get swept in the SEC and still have a gig.

As long as Dye is AU's football 'god' they will never hire a A+ coach
Should have fired Jacobs also and put a restraining order on Pat Dye

don't forget Gus Malzahn. most importantly the highly played players. but you mentioned that. remember this guy was like 20-30 games under .500 when they hired him from Iowa State

I thought hiring Willie Martinez and Brian Van Gorder was the death nail for Chizik.
Auburn and Tennessee are still upper tier jobs. The schools will open up the pocket book for a new coach. It will be interesting to see who will want to go there though. Sanctions loom over Auburn now and UT just got hit with some. Both programs have just been drained the past two years. UGA, Bama, SoCo and to a lesser extent FSU and UF all rule their recruiting area now.

Jim O'Brien is a much better coach than Chiz and he got the axe too. Auburn doesn't need a big name hire. Just a temporary fix until Saban gets tired of winning championships.

Don't cry for me Argentina Auburn
Chizik, who just finished his fourth season on the Plains, won't walk away empty-handed. Auburn contractually is obligated to pay the coach $208,333 per month through the end of 2015. - ESPN Reporting

They should knock off a year because Chiz did not coach one bit this year.

I think Gene deserved another year. He is a great recruiter and held the team together and focused through all the adversity in 2010. He won us our first national title in many years and just made bad choices in coordinator hires this year. Most people don't know that Gene was Auburn's defensive coordinator in 2004, when Auburn had that beast defense and went undefeated. They also don't know that following that year at Auburn, he was Co-defensive coordinator at Texas, the year they went undefeated and became national champions. I think he is a good coach and deserved another chance, just my opinion. War Eagle!!
