Dwight Howard Tells Lakers He Wants Phil Jackson
Dwight Howard has told the Los Angeles Lakers he wants them to bring back Phil Jackson as coach,’ a source close to the team tells SheridanHoops.com.

(Jerry) Buss’ son, Jim, is expected to be the person who makes the ultimate decision on who the next coach will be, and the source who spoke to SheridanHoops made it clear that Buss is aware of Howard’s wishes. It remains unclear if Jackson would be interested, but he retains a close relationship with Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol — two of the players he coached in Los Angeles before leaving the team after the 2010-11 season.

I doubt its up to them if they want phil to be the next coach. Pretty sure if Phil wants to be the coach he will be.

Sounds like they just want somebody they respect. Hope it happens so there can be no excuses. The team is better than what they've shown.

How about he plays basketball for once instead of making suggestions to his bosses constantly.

Maybe that is what Phil Jackson is waiting for, reinsurance from Dwight.

Hey Dwight, go practice your free throws bud.

I love how Phil gets himself in spots to look good. Leaves the Lakers when they obviously cannot win, returns when they are stacked and getting ready to go on a monster run. Can't wait til they lose their asses in the playoffs, happpy happy day!

He does excel at get the prima donna players to play to their full potential, but it is obvious that he needs the best talent to win championships. He quit the Lakers when it was obvious they were declining because he only wants to coach the top 1-2 talented teams.

He is no miracle worker, and rode great players in their primes to accumulate championships. Good for him not to disrupt destiny, but his value as a coach is overrated.

no.. what Dwight is really doing is creating his exit strategy.

He knows that Jackson can't walk well anymore..
and that he is 99% unlikely no longer interested, or cannot
complete the task physically, so he is making a case
specifically for an outcome that cannot happen.

The objective being that when the season ends... he has a ready-made excuse
"if you guys had brought in the coach i wanted.. then sure. but–"

this is him letting people know he is not playing in LA next season.

He was walking around okay, and said that people with the same condition as him , same surgery were very active. He said it would take anther few months before he is fully recovered. And someday he would think about returning to coaching.

Phil was waiting to see if the Heat lost last year, so Eric Spoelstra would get fired, and then he had a chance to coach Lebron to his first title.

Well, since that didn't happen, he defaults back to the Lakers and Kobe/Dwight/Nash.
