oh wait, I thought SD scored a late TD.

I actually remember another Pittsburgh game from almost exactly 10 years ago!

Pittsburgh Steelers 14 at Tennessee Oilers 23 on November 15th, 1998 - Full team and player stats and box score

Except that pittsburgh was on the opposite side, steelers were lateralling the ball all over the place, till it got fumbled into the endzone and Tennesee fell on it for a TD with no time left.

Impacted the line i am almost certain

            what a disgrace...

I don't think they will, but out of curiosity, if the NFL changed the score what would happen with payouts?

Green said the confusion occurred because there was a misunderstanding about which lateral was in question.

"The first pass was the one that was illegal, but it only kills the play if it hits the ground," Green said. "That was incorrect to have killed it at that point. The ruling should have let the play go on. That's just the way that it played out. We believe the second pass was legal."

Green was asked why, since the ball didn't hit the ground during any of the tossing, the officials decided after huddling that the play should have ended.

"We didn't kill it on the field," Green said. "After [the] discussion we decided ... there was some confusion over which pass we were talking about and it was decided that it was the second pass that was illegal that did hit the ground and therefore we killed the play there."

However, the officials realized afterward they erred.
                The referents here are terrible.

The first pass was the one that was illegal...
The first pass was from Rivers to LT, but I assume the ref means the backward pass from LT to Chambers.

We believe the second pass was legal.
The second pass was the pass from LT to Chambers, but I assume he means the backward pass from Chambers to... Polamalu.

...it was decided that it was the second pass that was illegal that did hit the ground and therefore we killed the play there.
The SECOND pass... (from Chambers to Polamalu?) was illegal? What were the refs smoking!?

You're telling me that this all happened because the refs can't count?

                1) Rivers to LT
                2) LT to Chambers
                3) Chambers to the Steelers

if the NFL admits to a mistake........shouldn't they have to change the score...

I mean doesn't total scores come into affect if 2 teams are tied for the division??

Wouldn't Denver appeal this some way??
