#11This is the million dollar question since Obama went back on 2008 campaign promises to leave the medical marijuana issue up to the states by reinstating dispensaries raids and the DOJ has so far remained silent on these ballot initiatives...Comment -

#15Obama administration already said they would actively go after any of the states that legalized.
A crackdown on drug legalization would follow other efforts by the Obama administration to shutdown medical marijuana dispensaries operating within state law in California and elsewhere. If Mitt Romney wins the presidential election, he would probably take the same position as Obama, having stated that marijuana is a “gateway drug” and that he would fight legalization “tooth and nail.”Comment -

#29It effectively means small possession is legal since the feds don't have the manpower to do that. The feds can only hope to stop state legal storefronts from taking root. I totally expect others states like California will follow suit within 4 years, maybe 2. I have not seen anything about it but I assume Arkansas passed their medical cannabis inititiative? Those don't usually lose. Don't forget about Hemp. I think the initiative in colorado seeks to legalize industrial hemp farming too.

#32Sorry to disappoint but only 48% of voters in Arkansas think the sick should legal access to their medicine...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/1...n_2074168.html
Plus you take the criminal element out of it and you don't have Mexican cartels smuggling weed into the USA and killing people over the money involved! That alone is the sole reason cannabis should be legal everywhere. Take the drug lords and all their illegal profits out of the picture and the money stays here, states can tax it, people get jobs, its a win win for everybody!Comment -

#34This has zero immediate impact. Nobody will be able to toke up in this country freely for many many years.
This is a main step in ending the myopic view on marijuana. Colorado has the ability to take on the feds, and as importantly they have the fiscal ability to fight the feds threats of loss of funding.
I think if it goes to the court, under the right law being challenged, we could see the federal law being struck down, which effectively ends the supremacy clauses power over this issue and most importantly, will allow states to regulate it as they see fit.
Instead of a medical challenge to the law, they are going to go for the jugular and probably go after the commerce clause, and therefore the over breadth of the federal law.Comment -

#35Fuk'in Feds won't touch this shit! One thing, they don't have the manpower and two, you go fuk'in with the financial livelihood of a state and you'll have a fuk'in revolt on your hands! This movement is way too strong now, 40 million people use some form of cannabis on a daily basis. President Obama has already stated he will not interfere with states who amend their laws to allow legalization. This fantastic plant has the potential to become a mulit billion dollar a year industry! Factor in hemp farms and all the products that can be make with it and this plant will save trees, save farms, and save the planet!Comment
