His NFL resume does not include the 1963 season. That year, he and Green Bay Packers running back Paul Hornung were suspended by NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle for betting on games and associating with gamblers.

Got to see him play the Bears a few times at Wrigley in the early/mid 60's. A presence for sure and an interesting guy after his FB career. One of the participants in the group of players suing the NFL for injuries .... RIP Mr. Karras.
