jon Jones is cruzifiying every one in his way, he got the ufc company to lose 20 millions, cruzifiying dana white as well, he submitted and near tko belfort, submitted machida/rampage, tko shogun, ..... In a fight with anderson silva, silva could be the underdog. Probably jon jones at -150.

Guys, Jones fought a middleweight has been tonight. Dont get too excited... He needs to retain the belt, fight some better competion, and then we can have this conversation. He hasnt proven himself yet. Hes good but this fight was waste. He needs to fight Alexander Gustafason.Comment -

#13He has a distinct advantage until he faces someone like Anderson Silva who has a similar body type we won't know if he's the best. It could very well be that Anderson is in fact better. I also believe Anderson Silva would beat Shogun, Machida, Rashad and Rampage as well. He needs to face someone with a similar height, reach and skill set. So far I haven't seen him face that type of fighter. They need to make that fight happen soon, it will be like the hagler/hearns of MMA.Comment -

#16Silva is the only comparable. If they fought today, I think Silva would win because Jones would be too intimidated to fight his idol. And Silva's timing is another league than Jones. That being said, Jones could easily throw Silva to the ground and do this thing from there. Tough fight to call.Comment -

#22Jones is one of the best things to happen to the sport in a long time. Great fighter and a great guy outside the ring. Henderson would be a good fight and a fight with Sonnen would be great ppv numbers.
Surprised nobody mentioned St. Pierre, that proposed fight people have thrown out with Silva/St.Pierre in Dallas Cowboy stadium would be the biggest fight ever. Should be a good fight in November with Condit.Comment -

#24No.
He just fought Vitor and is about to fight Hendo. 2 actual 185ers who were both whooped up by Anderson Silva. Bones is just beating Anderson's left overs.
He was almost sub'd by a 35 year old 185er that took him 4 rounds. Who didn't make it out of 2 minutes with Anderson.
Anderson is the best of all time.

St. Pierre's game play of take downs and ground and pound would nullify pretty much all of Silva's strengths. Fight wouldn't be close.Comment -

You believe this stuff? Him milking his "arm injury"....you believed it?
How does a guy with such a hurt arm start dancing and swing his arms when the decision was announced? How does a guy with such a hurt arm throw elbows and punches at the camera as the decision is announced? His arm isn't hurt. He just wants to act like he is such a tough dude who "wouldn't tap". Exaggeration.

Virtually the same size? What fight were you watching? Machida, Hendo, Vitor, Rashad are all 185ers who fight at 205 because they don't care to cut weight. Machida would be at 185 if ANderson didn't hold that belt.

#28I don't think Silva has a chance against St. Pierre if we look at Silva's performances against Sonnen. Sonnen took Silva to the ground at will and kept him there and had Sonnen not been lulled into striking Silva (and that ridiculous spinning back fist) who knows how it would have gone.
St. Pierre's game play of take downs and ground and pound would nullify pretty much all of Silva's strengths. Fight wouldn't be close.

You think GSP would hold Silva down? Alves got back up multiple times from underneath him. You don't think size is a factor? Sonnen was an Olympic caliber wrestler and a former and now 205er. You think GSPs TDs are just as good as Sonnen's who is like 2 weights bigger?
Why does Anderson seem to WANT that fight so bad? While GSP is dodging it? Why is that if GSP would beat him so easy?
Anderson knows he would KO that pansy easily. Anderson stuffed 2 or 3 of Chael's TDs in that 2nd round. Chael has like 25lbs on GSP.
There is a reason Silva wants the fight so bad and why GSP doesn't seem that interested. GSP knows what would happen.<input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){ jsCall();**else{setTimeout('jsCall()',50 0);**" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">Comment -

#30Of course Jones was the better fighter. As for "lion" Vitor said that like 38 times on the countdown. He loves lions.
Why was he doing swinging air elbows and punching the air for the camera after the fight if it hurt so much?
Was a very lopsided fight. But we are talking about GSP getting and keeping someone down. Alves was able to get back up often, so I imagine Silva would find ways too. He is also so good at tying you up from bottom. He would easily tie the shorter GSP up to where refs would be standing it up often. All of this while the size and fact that you have to get close to Anderson before you can take him down, no one GSP has ever faced has half the footwork Anderson has...or elusiveness. Closest thing was BJ back in the day and he lit GSP up. Shields, Kos, Fitch, Hughes all have shitty footwork and striking. They were no threat.
On the feet Anderson would murk Georges. GSP got dotted up by Jake Shields. GSP was finished by Matt Serra. GSP would be so afraid to commit to anything vs. Anderson.
GSP is around 6 years younger and is the wrestler here. As a Champ he should look at it as a great opportunity to beat the p4p best. Anderson wants that fight so much he entertained the idea of vacating the 185 strap and try to make 170. Silva is passing on a Weidman fight and said he wouldn't fight until 2013 because he is holding out for a GSP fight. With the Bonnar fight he figures he can take an easy fight while GSP fights Condit.
I think this fight should happen. These are the 2 best of this era. 2 of the best of all time. Separated by 1 weight class. While Silva is bigger, GSP is much younger. I think the fight makes perfect sense right now.

the weight distribution isn't the reason why other fighters have so much trouble with jones.
it's his reach and quickness. maybe they should have weight and height limit for all the fighters.
