There is a difference between voicing your support for something/someone vs. voicing your opposition to something/someone which many people obviously support, especially when it has nothing to do with why you are a public figure. It's just a sanctimonious obnoxious jerk thing to do but he's a sanctimonious obnoxious jerk.
