Detroit gets its chance to convince a national television audience that it is worthy of playing under the bright lights when it hosts the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. The Lions have 2 huge 2nd half combacks under their belts thus far. Detroit was behind 20-0 at halftime in Minnesota on Sept. 25 before pulling out a 26-23 overtime win and trailed 27-3 in Dallas early in the third quarter of last week's 34-30 victory. The Lions became the first team in league history to win back-to-back games after rallying from deficits of at least 20 points. Detroit’s Johnson leads the league with eight TDs and is the first player to catch two scoring passes in each of his first four games. Matthew Stafford is having an amazing year thus far, throwing for 11 TDs for over 1200 yards and only 3 INTs while completing over 62% of his passes. His chemisty with wiht Johnson has been incredible as he goes to him often. Johnson has 321 recieving yards with 8 TDS. Detroit's running game has not been the best this year as Best has only 1 TD with 190 yards on the ground. The Lions are 4-0 and are enjoying their best start since 1956 thanks in large part to a pair of incredible comebacks. The Lions are 13-3-2 in the last 18 against the NFC.
The Bears are having an up and down season going 2-2 SU and only 1-3 ATS.
Starting with Jay Cutler who has had his own problems completing just over 54% of his passes with 5 TDs and 4 INTS. Chicago gave up 543 yards to the Panthers the most since yielding a franchise worst 583 in a win over the Los Angeles Rams in 1982 and might not have prevailed without D.J. Moore's interception return for a touchdown and Devin Hester's NFL-record 11th punt return for a score. Chicago has averaged 31.8 passing plays and 28.7 running plays during its six-game win streak over Detroit, and has topped 100 yards on the ground in each of the last five matchups. Although the Lions are undefeated the last team to beat them was the Chicago Bears, where Cutler had his best game completing 80% of his passes. Forte, though, was held to less than 65 rushing yards in both games last year but had a career-best 151 receiving yards and two touchdowns in a 19-14 season-opening win over the Lions on Sept. 12, 2010 The underdog is 10-4 ATS in the last 14 games. The Lions are much more explosive than the Bears, and keeping the Matthew Stafford/Calvin Johnson duo on the sidelines with a ball-control attack is imperative for Chicago. Relying Forte to run the ball, which he is really good at. Winning time of possession, avoiding turnovers and controlling the crowd noise are important for Chicago, and I think this keeps the game closer than expected. I don't know about winning outright but I do like the Bears to cover this +6 1/2 spread.
