With talks regarding a long-term contract going nowhere, the agent for Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has proposed an alternative.
Haynesworth would sign a one-year tender and in return the Titans would agree not to franchise-tag him next season.

"There has been no significant movement from the Titans on a long-term deal since prior to the Combine in February and I don't think this will change before July 15,'' agent Chad Speck said in an e-mail.
"We have spoken several times in the past few weeks and our conversations have recently focused on an idea that I proposed in March which would require Albert to sign the tender but in return the Titans would agree not to use the franchise tag on him again next year.''
The Titans, who declined to comment on Tuesday, designated Haynesworth their franchise player in February. If the two sides don't agree to a long-term contract by July 15, Haynesworth would play this fall under a one-year, $7.25-million contract that can't be extended until after the last game of the regular season.
