Vikings QB Brett Favre apologizes, ready to go 'lights out' on MNF
Mon Oct 11, 3:19 PM ET
Brett Favre told his Vikings teammates that he’s totally focused on beating the New York Jets, and apologized for potentially distracting them from that mission. According to ESPN, he also personally vowed to play “lights out tonight,” putting his attention on the field while facing a controversy off of it.
In an investigation that began last Thursday, the NFL is looking into allegations that Favre sent inappropriate messages and photos to a former Jets employee two years ago when he was a member of the team. The league also wants to interview one and possibly both massage therapists who were reportedly sent inappropriate text messages by Favre. NFL security officials will meet with Favre to see if there is any weight to the issues, a source told ESPN.
"My main focus is the New York Jets, they are a tough team; as good as they are that has been my focus," Favre told ESPN. "I hate in any way if this has been a distraction as I said Thursday — we are here focused on trying to beat the Jets."
Favre has restrained from commenting much on the accuracy of the reports, and is also willing to speak to league commissioner Roger Goodell when called upon.
