I was going to save this for the video segment later in the week but I absolutely love the San Francisco 49ers to win the NFC West at +275. Take this with a grain of salt; this isn't a lock by any means.
Consider this an excellent investment that offers plenty of value.
Pound for pound, the 49ers are still the best team in the division. Yes, they are 0-4 but they are only two games out of first place because everyone in the division is so weak.
For starters, the Arizona Cardinals are flat-out garbage. The Detroit Lions Lions at 0-4 are better team than this 2-2 squad. They don't have healthy receivers, their quarterbacks stink and their offensive line is brutal. They aren't winning this division and they are a great team to bet against on the road.
Speaking of good teams to bet against on the road, the Seattle Seahawks are exactly that. Away from home, they are deplorable. Even at home they aren't that good. They needed plenty of 49ers and Chargers mistakes to get wins in their two home contests and on the road, they just don't show. They were just thrashed by the St. Louis Rams for crying out loud.
Which brings us to those Rams. I actually believe in this team. Forget Bradford for a second; look at how well their defense has played so far this season. They haven't given up more than 17 points in a game and Steve Spagnuolo is working magic. You can't tell me that the New York Giants defense doesn't miss Spagnuolo, even though this is probably the worst week in the last year and a quarter to make that point - haha.
Nonetheless, I see the Rams as being a bit of a challenger but nothing real serious. And Steven Jackson is already banged up.
The 49ers have lost all four games but two were real tight to Atlanta and New Orleans; that's nothing to be ashamed of. They still have five divisional games, which means they can gain lots of ground and this week, they can get off the schnide (however you spell that) against the Philadelphia Eagles, who may be without Michael Vick (and a healthy LeSean McCoy).
If they can win this week, they get Oakland at home next week, followed by a trip to Carolina and a game against Denver in London. Those are all winnable games.
A lot of people who bet SF to win the division at -180/-200 at the beginning of the year are probably nervous, but you can walk up to the window and take them at nearly 3-to-1 and have a decent shot to win it. I love it.
This week is big, though. If they lose to Philly, you can kiss your bet away. Singletary is already in danger of losing the team.
But they are favored to win and you get some Eagles injuries to help you out. After that, just hope Mike Singletary doesn't drop his pants again.
Bet it and forget it at +275.
