It's an NFL thread with some chatter about football in general, capping methods, and general questions. Plenty of OPs with threads in NFL/NCAA get asked questions or for suggestions about NCAA/NFL. I got requests earlier this season to do my NCAA picks too so I'm just putting them in here, and right now I get tons of requests for basketball and NHL. This thread is just football I'll let you guys know if I start another thread for NBA or NHL.

Thanks rb3b3. My record in NBA was something like 50% wasn't exactly pretty or terrible...NHL record was pretty high 70-80%, but the volume was low. Just played some end of the season plays (about 10-15 of them).

THOUGHTS: From the broken record department here in Las Vegas, “The Books win again for the 5th straight week”. The underdog trend just keeps rolling as they posted a 9-4 record last week. And get this, All Nine Underdogs won straight up without the points… all you had to do is pick the winner.
New Orleans, Dallas, and San Diego were no ordinary favorites; they all were laying 7 points or more and lost straight up. These results build bigger Casinos as they wipe out not only all the parlays but the teasers as well on these public choices. Checking with the Sports Book Directors, the biggest parlays were on the Atlanta Falcons (who covered) then Green Bay, San Diego, and New Orleans.
For NFL Week #6 Here are our plays:
[212] Houston Texans -4 over the Kansas City Chiefs
(Take the TEXANS -110 for $88 – 4 UNITS bet based on $20 units)
This is a great home matchup for Houston…after last week’s sub-par game. Matt Schaub will be on fire against a Kansas City Defense that has been giving up at least 230 passing yards each week against some poor teams.
The Chiefs were undefeated last week, and played their hearts out against the Colts only to be defeated in the fourth quarter. The put all their energy into that huge effort, but looked very dejected when the gun sounded. We have Houston off a poor effort now facing KC off a gigantic effort but now is one the road for the second straight week…We love the letdown factor with KC, and the we have to prove something angle with Houston. The Texans have a bye coming up next week and will be fully focused on winning this one before vacation.
The money again is on Kansas City, seems bettors will never learn. They saw the great effort the Chiefs put up against the Colts, and the bad game played by the Texans against the Giants, so they over bet the good performance. Remember, no team is as good as they look, or as bad as they look.
[217] Atlanta Falcons +3 over the Philadelphia Eagles
(Take the FALCONS -110 for $77 – 3.5 UNITS bet based on $20 units)
A 25-14 projection here for the Atlanta Falcons in Philadelphia...and they're dogs. The books sure have the line wrong here. We have +3 marked down, but if you want to get ballsy you can go ahead and bet the money line here on the Falcons. We have them ranked very high in the NFL right now....obviously the public perception is on the team that most recently put on a show...the Eagles (our game of the month team last week). It is all about situations per week, and what the public does for us. In this case I can't figure out why the Falcons are underdogs. The Falcons are still under the radar...soon they'll be on everyone's card.
The Falcons are the team that will be able to exploit every hole in the Eagles defense. Philly is going to be dealing with an offense led by Matt Ryan that scores in 40% of their drives and 18% of those drives result in a TD. The Falcons' opponents are averaging only a 22% scoring drive conversion rate. Take the Falcons here; they are a false dog on the road.
[236] Jacksonville Jaguars +3 over the Tennessee Titans (MNF)
(Take the JAGUARS -110 for $66 – 3 UNITS bet based on $20 units)
This is the first time Monday Night Football has been in Jacksonville in over three years, and the crowd will be rocking and crazy for this one. It will be very hard for Tennessee to match the intensity against Jacksonville that they had last week when they went into Texas Stadium and beat Dallas at Home.
Both teams are 3-2 on the season, and the money is pouring in on Tennessee -3. This game is very similar to the Houston/Kansas City game, with Tennessee looking just great last week. Almost 85% of the money is on the Titans…Hmm…wonder why the books are holding fast on that line. How did Tennessee get +7 points last week against Dallas, and only have to give up 3 against this bad Jacksonville team. Short memories once again, as the Jags defeated Peyton Manning and the Colts here two weeks ago….Take the Jags for the upset.
[228] Denver Broncos +3.5 over the New York Jets
(Take the BRONCOS for $55 – 2.5 UNITS bet based on $20 units)
The Jets have been going full steam draining themselves in nearly every quarter of play. In our opinion they are the best team in the NFL, but this away trip is going to throw them off. This isn't so much a bet on the Broncos as it is a strategic bet against the Jets. Don't go too heavy on this one though...keep in mind...they ARE the Jets ::bows down:: but they can be beaten.
Seriously though...one way I can build a little bit of confidence in this pick is by asking every idiot I know, "what do you think is the easiest/most obvious pick on the board." The answer 10/10 times is THE JETS! Yes, the Broncos might expect some hardcore passing defense from their opponent here, but my main question is will they be up to it?
The Broncos get the nod from the "true win/loss" indicator which is telling us that the Broncos have consistently put forth the effort when things got tight. The indicator is telling us that basically the Jets may have outperformed a bit. We'll see. This game should be interesting...I really like both of these teams.
[223] Miami Dolphins +3.5 over the Green Bay Packers
(Take the DOLPHINS for $44 – 2 UNITS bet based on $20 units)
This one is simple...the Packers squad is absolutely littered with injuries. If the Packers are smart here they'll play this one safe because they don't want to risk injuring Aaron Rodgers. I'm not sure what the Packers can even do here... This game looks eerily similar to the game where my Bears got their heads ripped off by the Giants (and I wish I had been coaching the boys there). Sometimes you need to see that a team is out for anybodies blood and that you are unable to take that on at the moment. The smart move is USING the game to find where an opponent might try to exploit/reveal your holes while you are weak or off-guard. Anyways...the Dolphins got embarrassed at home; they had a week to think about that, and now they are ready to smash a weakened team. Take the PHINS and the points.
[210] St. Louis Rams +9 over the San Diego Chargers
(Take the RAMS -110 for $33 – 1.5 UNITS bet based on $20 units)
This is one of those plays where it was hard to justify a bet against the opponent, but the points and the betting against the public thing are just very much in our favor. San Diego will win this, but the Rams aren't going to come out without a few tricks of their own....especially after that beat against the fired up Lions. The way I look at that beat for the Rams is this.... someone had to take it and the Rams were in the wrong place at the wrong time. We still think Sam and company are legit, and that this game may be close.
[xxx] 7 Pt. Teaser on: Oakland Raiders +14 and NYG/DET under 53
(Take the TEASER -130 for $26 – 1 UNIT bet based on $20 units)
Another real controversial play AGAINST the 49ers...it was tempting to take a deep breath and take the niners, but I just can't deny the amount of points we can get for the Raiders here, and the show they put on against the Chargers. I'm not sure if that was a true win though...if you remember in my write up last week in our win betting the Raiders I mentioned that this is more a bet against a team that drained themselves and is coming out cocky. Emotions are running wild with the 49ers and once again, everybody loves them. We'll take our Raiders in this teaser with the exhausted NYG/DET matchup. I say the niners pick up their first win here, but even -7 was far too many points to give the 0-5 team. Take this bet on a matchup with exhausted teams from week 5 and on a team that may have proven something to us in week 5.

(Take the TEASER -130 for $26 – 1 UNIT bet based on $20 units)
Last one...CLE and PIT are going to stay under the total here. +21 might be the game total....and that ladies and gentlemen is the start of what's called a correlated parlay (that will get you kicked out of most books now-a-days). As for the Ravens...expect Ray Rice and Willis McGahee to keep Brady off the field and allow Flacco plenty of opportunities against one of the worst defenses. I keep saying....one of these games Flacco is going to really light up the scoreboard....maybe that is today, but with 10 points here I think we're okay with that particular risk.
