NFL football games and defensive player injury timeouts to slow down an explosive offense.

Indianapolis Colts opponents in particular lay down more often than ever. Colt game viewers are seeing these supposed defensive cramps and and other short term 'wind catcher breaks' more than ever by opposing defenses. The opposing teams defensive players act hurt so much that it is to obvious to viewers. It is a sly (or smart) way to get a breather and to allow your defense time to get the proper player personnel on the field. San Francisco was painfully obvious on November 1st, 2009 vs. Indianapolis as was the St Louis Rams a week earlier. My question is whether the players themselves are acting out this popular routine act or is it coaches who assure the players are aware of their rights before and during games. No big deal I guess, but it's worth noting I believe. Or it can be viewed as in my high school playing days as the players acting out their injuries so to get more attention by hearing their names called out over the broadcast as being injured and being in the spotlight for a few seconds as the player actor lays there on the field with the hamstring being stretched by their trainers.

Maybe they should make a rule that if a defensive player is "injured" and there is clock stoppage but not a timeout that that player has to sit out the remainder of the defensive series.
