Every year, NFL owners go through a process uniquely called "Black Monday" as they elevate the top staff members, which normally are the head coach and general manager, to make sure the right people are in place to lead a franchise to success.
Typically, the process officially starts after an NFL team plays its final game of the regular season (if the team doesn't qualify for the playoffs) but over the last several years, NFL owners have moved even quicker than that to remove unwanted staff members.

The Chicago Bears became the second team to hire a person to fill an open general manager spot. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Bears were finalizing a deal to hire Chiefs’ Assistant Director of Player Personnel Ryan Poles. According to NFL.com, Poles is 36-years-old and has been with the Chiefs organization for the last 13 seasons.
According to the Chicago Bears story on Poles' hiring, "Poles, 36, has spent the last 13 seasons working with the Chiefs as a player personnel assistant (2009), college scouting administrator (2010-12), college scouting coordinator (2013-16), director of college scouting (2017), assistant director of player personnel (2018-20) and executive director of player personnel (2021)."
