Bills +3
The Bills at home against the much ballyhooed Luck-led Colts. I'm liking the Bills here on opening day. Their D-line, even without the suspended Dareus, should provide enough pressure throughout the day to keep Luck and company from their usual methodical marches up and down the field.
I'm also liking Tyrod Taylor as a dual threat to keep the Bills offense from bogging down. He's got plenty of weapons at his disposal in this offense, and if all else fails, he can tuck it and run like the wind. Being as there's no real NFL film on the guy, his presence under center favors the Bills. I reckon Buffalo will have a slew of plays up their sleeve, maximizing Taylor's skill set, that weren't revealed in the preseason. His mobility could be a boon to super stud Sammy Watkins because if Tyrod scrambles, chances are Sammy will be finding holes in the secondary.
Lions +3
I feel like I'm getting the better team here and the three points is just icing on the cake. The Lions defense will be formidable again this year, even without Suh. The addition of Ngata will help compensate some, as will Van Noy's return from injury in 2014.
This will be the second year of the Lombardi offense in Detroit and I expect Stafford to make a major step forward, especially with a healthy Calvin now back at his disposal. That will just open things up for Golden Tate on the other side, and last year's first round pick, Eric Ebron, over the middle. He'll also have the benefit of dropping dimes to Abdullah out of the backfield now, who's just a better version of Reggie Bush.
