Bengals sign Laveranues Coles to big time deal, utter joke.....
Adam Schefter of the NFL Network reports that the Cincinnati Bengals signed free-agent WR Laveranues Coles to a four-year, $28 million contract.

This is the worst move they have made in a long while.

wow. I didn't think he'd match the 6 mil he was passing up this year by leaving the NYJ.

You do know who the QB is for the bengals right? You always might want to look into Coles career stats with mediocre QB's throwing to him. One thing you will notice is consistency.

While the bengals needed to sign another WR to replace Hooshurmama, I'm not sure if Coles is the answer. They would probably have been better off looking for a possession receiver in the draft.

Getting a solid a receiver out of the draft is a true coin-toss. Coles puta solid numbers up year after year for number 2. Only 2 years he hasnt played all 16 games. Which for the bengals would be amazing if a guy could stay healthy for even 10 weeks.

Another bad move by Cincy in the long term but he will at least help Palmer a fair bit as this team has a year or 2 of rebuilding ahead of it.

The Bengals organization are a bunch of fuk ups. Tank Johnson??? Are you kidding me. Is Michael ConVict next? Why not try and bail out OJ Simpson while your at it.
If Marvin Lewis is behind this he needs his ass fired.

Bengals, with any luck, will be drafting Andre or one of the top OTs.

Roy Williams might be a good fit against run oriented division teams like the Ravens, Browns & Steelers. Unfortunately, I think Roethlisberger is talented & experienced enough to seek & destroy him with the passing game & weapons. I'm not as certain with Cleveland and Baltimore.
This year in non-division games Cincy faces the AFC West & NFC North. Both will be run-oriented divisions with teams like Chicago & Minnesota, as well as Denver & KC who should continue being run oriented but with a change in coaching, we'll see. I'm not sure what to expect with Oakland & Detroit, which could be explosive in the passing game if they can get organized, but will also focus primarily on the running game especially if their respective passing games flounder. I expect guys like Tom Cable & Jim Schwartz to be run-oriented head coaches. In all cases, we're looking at some of the most talented RBs in the NFL right now, from Adrien Peterson, Forte, Tomlinson, McFadden, Moreno, Sproles, etc.
The other two games on the schedule are Jets & Texans. Jets should be relying on the run game with no experience at QB. Texans might be tougher with Schaub good enough to pick Williams apart.
Another angle is that the Bengals might spend a lot of time playing from behind, thus the other team running the ball to kill the clock. Enter Roy Williams. I see Roy Williams as much more valuable to a bad team constantly playing from behind than a good team built to protect a lead.
In any case, I see this as a perfect fit for Roy Williams, maybe only for this year, but I think we'll see a big year from Roy, who still has all of the talent in the world, but he's more of an in-the-box safety than a coverage safety and teams have found ways to package to exploit this fact with spread offense packages which require a solid QB. Luckily, Cincy will be facing some of the shakiest QB situations in the NFL when they face the Lions, Vikings, Oakland, Jets, KC, Denver, maybe even Chicago, GB, Baltimore, Cleveland depending on Cutler's transition, whether Flacco or Rodgers have a "sophomore slump" or if we have some kind of Orton/Simms, Anderson/Quinn QB controversy. At least Cincy isn't facing a murderer's row of QBs like Brady/Manning/Brees/McNabb who can mercilessly torch guys like Roy Williams in the passing game.

apparently, he turned down more money from other teams..
Also had Brian Leonard to the list, backed-up S. Jackson in '07 and was IR last year.
