~Panthers Defense is Top-Five In Every Category Is No. 1 In Time of Possession~
Patriots are 7-2, but Carolina is the story with a 6-3 record, five straight wins and the fewest points allowed in the NFC. The Pats are 84-21 in the second half of the season under Bill Belichick, 42-9 vs. the NFC in the last 12 years and Tom Brady is 13-4 on Monday nights with 41 TD tosses and 14 picks. And they have forced a turnover in 36 consecutive games. Panthers defense is top-five in every category. The Panthers come in having covered their past five games and have done so with their defense taking the spotlight while Cam Newton has gotten into a groove of just managing the game rather than trying to make the big play on every snap. DEs Charles Johnson (8.5 sacks) and Greg Hardy (6.5) provide pressure and rookie DTs Star Lotulelei and Kawann Short plug the inside gaps. Carolina is No. 1 in time of possession and converts an excellent 46.2 percent of third downs. The Patriots have won and covered their past two games and are coming off of a bye. Both of those games were at home though. They've only covered one out of four on the road this season and it's apparent that this isn't the Patriots squad we've all been accustomed to over the years. I think the Panthers come with a spirited performance on Monday night and show the rest of the league they are a viable Super Bowl contender out of the NFC. My Prediction:Carolina-1 {5Dimes|.

The Panthers' defense presents a challenging matchup for the Patriots, as it has no glaring weaknesses. The Panthers are allowing the fewest yards per game among NFC teams and are surrendering fewer first downs per contest than any NFL club. Middle linebacker Luke Kuechly (75 tackles) and defensive end Charles Johnson (8.5 sacks) are among the Panthers' impact defenders.

STAT'S THAT I USED WITH MY FORMULA TO DETERMINE MY PICK AND BET
Wide receivers Steve Smith (42 receptions, 450 yards, three TDs) and Brandon LaFell (31 receptions, 400 yards, three TDs) and tight end Greg Olsen (35 receptions, 440 yards, three TDs) are the Panthers' top three receivers. All have some playmaking ability, though Smith's yards-per-reception average has plummeted from 16.1 in 2012 to 10.7 this season. The Panthers split the backfield workload between DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert. Newton will also get a handful of rushes per game, too. The Patriots' defense has had problems against the run, surrendering 128.2 yards per contest, third-worst in the NFL. Overall, though, the New England defense has acquitted itself well this season. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (2,246 yards, 13 TDs, six interceptions, 57.1 completion percentage) hasn't played as well as in past seasons, but he was exceptional against the Steelers, shredding Pittsburgh for 432 yards and four TDs. Most importantly, he looked his old self — the confident, accurate, blue-chip passer he's long been. Tight end Rob Gronkowski (19 catches, 284 yards, one TD) is the Patriots' top target. The bye week likely didn't hurt Gronkowski or receiver Danny Amendola (23 catches, 296 yards, one TD), as each has battled injuries. Rookie wide receiver Aaron Dobson (31 catches, 454 yards, four TDs) has started to come on; only Gronkowski has been targeted more in the last three games.
