    Free Agency is so overrated
THE BEST PLAYERS DON'T BECOME FREE AGENTS! The best teams are usually the ones losing the players because they have better players and they can't pay everybody. How many big free agent moves did the Steelers, Giants, Ravens, Patriots, Peyton Manning Colts made over the years? It's usually the Cowboys, Redskins and crappy teams signing people because they have less talent and they are chasing.

How many people even knew who Dannell Ellerby was 2 years ago? Now Miami really improved their team for signing him! He got big money. He got talked about over and over on ESPN and now the casual fan thinks he's better than he is.

Fans and Gamblers always overvalue free agency.

Let's say the Broncos are the best team in the league. Let's quantify their ranking and say they are ranked 97 out of 100 as a team. Let's say they lose a couple players and drop to a 93 rating as a team. Let's say Miami is rated 67 as a team but they signed a whole bunch of free agents to boost their rating 15 points to go up to 83. Yeah they improved a lot on paper but they are still nowhere near as good as the Broncos. That's what keeps happening.

It also doesn't factor in the cohesiveness factor. Peyton Manning with the exact same set of WR's will be better together in years 3 and 4 than years 1 and 2. You need time to develop chemistry in the passing game. Rebuilding your team every year destroys that. The same thing with offensive lines. If you have 5 out of the same 5 starters they should be better together in year 3 than year 1. An offensive line inserting 1 or 2 better players might not be better the next year.

All fans see is flashy signings and they always overpay. Always.
