Saints ML (when it becomes available in my book)
Good Weather, Over 44.. should be around 48-49 by my numbers.
Bad Weather, Under 44.. around 39.

no work done for sundays games.. will post when i get it done.

      Good Luck!

Does anyone know where I can find scores of games played at Soldier field in December? I wanted to know what factor weather plays at this time of the year in Chicago.

Leaning toward Chicago and maybe the over. Saints caught the Falcons interior line off guard this week with Pierre Thomas all day. I dont think they will be able to duplicate that this week in CHI and the Saints WR's are dropping balls left and right. Expect this trend to continue plus a couple of picks for Breese. Cold weather and Dome teams do not mix and has always been a recipe for disaster. Bears are still in the hunt for the division and will want it more.

I watch bears every week, I believe they are over rated, they could have easily lost almost every game (except the ones against Detroit),but you make a strong point. Chicago will be cold and snowy, and the field will be a mess, N.O. not good on road, especially in the harsh conditions we will see Thursday night. Soldiers Field ain't no cosy dome! Take Bears big, as they always seem to get that lucky bounce they need!

I'm not sure about the O/U, its a clear day but 32 % with 11 MPH Wind. I am leaning towards U 44

I'm a huge Bears fan and watch them every week, I would like to see them win this.
With that said: The Bears will have trouble with the passing attack of the Saints and now that Reggie back they will not be able to just key on the pass. So, I really hope the lake effect will bring down the temps to the teens and we get some snow. If the weather is good I excpet the Saints to keep it close and possibly win the game outright. Also, Brees played at Purdue in the Big Ten, so, its not like he has never played in adverse weather. Just my two cents...

just checked weather dot com and it is predicted to be cloudy with a 10% chance of percipitation.. and the temp at around 19 degrees F..

I believe NO is a better team than Chicago, but the weather is a big plus for chicago..

still early, but now I gotta check NO's performance on cold nights.. can anyone point me in the right direction?

For What it's worth, here's my write up!

New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears

The Saints and Bears are two teams at 7-6 fighting to stay alive in the wild card race. Chicago actually has a shot at the division as well. The Saints are not a very good road team, but they do seem to cover a lot of their games on the road, somehow? NO defense is terrible, they can't tackle, they have injuries, they have an offensive minded coach, and Drew Brees is often forced to win games on his own on the road with his arm. He'll probably have to do it again Thursday night. Before I get ahead of myself, check out these numbers:

NO Saints Home Stats - On offense the Saints are averaging 33.3 ppg and raking up a total of 528 ypg. On defense the Saints are letting up an average of 22.3 ppg and 338.3 ypg.

NO Saints Away Stats - On offense the Saints are averaging 22.2 ppg and putting up a total of 386 ypg. On defense the Saints are letting up an average of 28.3 ppg and 350.1 ypg.

That's a difference of +11 total points and +142 total yards on offense when they're at home. On defense they're letting up 5 more total points on the road. On the opposite side the Bears score an average of 26.7 ppg at home compared to 20.6 on the road.

Chicago is not the same Defense they once were but they've showed signs of improvement as of late. Orton has played well enough to put the Bears in position to win, the Bears could easily have won 2-3 more games this year and they did beat the Eagles at home. I think Orton should be able to make some big plays off play action if Matt Forte continues to run like a madman. NO is going to have to play good defense in critical spots to stay in this game, we know they'll score, but they're going to have to make stops too! Keep in mind also that NO is traveling north to play a game against a desperate team in the cold on three days rest. The weather report Thursday night is 25 degrees. To my knowledge as of now, 60% of the public is on the Saints. I'M NOT!

Score Prediction: Bears 27, Saints 21

                          Thursday's Play: Chicago Bears -3 (2-3 Units)

                            nice write-up riggs..

for what its worth, here is what i am looking at..

among common teams they faced during the season:
NO avg 25.43 pts, Chi avg 21 with scoring margins of -1.86 and -9.17 (meaning they both had losing records.. chicago's being worse).

                            In their last 3 games:
NO avg 33.33, Chi Avg 21.33, with scoring margins of 7.67 and 5.67 respectively (NO did better).

In their last 3, NO away, Chi home:
NO avg 23.33, CHi avg 21.33..

now this is when the numbers get nasty.. in the last 3 Away/home, NO has a losing record of -2.33, while Chicago wins by 3.33..

both these say the +/- 3 is dead on for these teams.. but since NO has better stats for all these, but the last 3 away, i still lean towards them, but YES! chicago could win this..

i still got NO +3 and waiting on weather for O/U.

                            thoughts?

The Bears passing attack hasn't been the same since the initial Orton injury. The Saints meanwhile continue to be underrated. A top 5 offense along with what actually looks to be an almost average defense.

I don't see how this game doesn't fly over 45 points! The trends are ridiculous in favor of a higher scoring game! The Bears are 18-6 Over at home in the last 3 yrs....the Saints are 10-2 Over in the last 3 yrs vs a winning team! The weather in Chicago is what it is this time of year but it didn't stop these 2 teams from scoring 53 and 58 pts in 2007 in Chicago and both were played in Dec/Jan weather! I like the Bears side as well but their 28th rated pass defense is going to struggle in this one! I watch the Bears almost every week and safety Mike Brown is slow as hell....just a shadow of his former self at safety...too many season ending injuries over the years! Their pass rush is spotty and Pierre Thomas tore them up last time (100+ rushing & receiving)! Reggie Bush is back and available as well! Kyle Orton is actually providing the Bears w/a actual passing game and they won't have much trouble w/the Saints 26th rated pass defense! Matt Forte should get 150 total yds and a TD too! Keeping an eye on the weather but Over still looks strong!!

i went with the bears, besides everything else already said. i think home field advantage is a significant game changing factor.

As a Bucs fan, I am biased because I hate the Saints. But their run defense is horrible. I see the Bears running wild on the day. The Bears give their fans a glimmer of hope with a win tonight, before crushing their season dreams with a loss to a crappy GB team next week.
