Ive heard so many arguments for either team, I don't think ive read one thread that even mentioned special teams, so ill run down this real quick for everybody who didn't have time.
Kickers:
Mason Crosby is somewhat consistent, missed 4 field goals this year
He Had one blocked against minnesota
Hit one wide right against Atlanta from 53
Missed a 36 yarder against indy wide left
Went wide right in that game winner against minnesota from 52
Taylor Mehlhaff is a rookie who is 3 out of 4 so far, has a long of 44 yards so who knows how he'll do from further, and missed a 31 yarder wide right in a blowout of oakland.
Punters:
Derrick Frost in 40 punts has an average of 42.8, a long of 65, and has put 8 inside the 20.
Steven Weatherford has 38 punts, an average of 42.3 and a long of 61. He has put 6 inside the 20. Pretty even in the punting game.
Punt Coverage
Packers Give up an average of:6.9 yards per return.
New Orleans Gives up an Average of 12.8 yards per return.
Punt Returns
Green Bay is fourth in punt returns at 13 yards per return.
New Orleans is first in the league with punt returns at 20 yards per return. And last but not least
Kickoff Returns
Couldnt find anything on kickoff coverage but...
Green Bay is 31st in the league in kickoff returns with 20.4
New Orleans is 19th with 22.6 yards per return
12 spots and only 2.2 yards is much difference so maybe these will help:
Returns over 40 yards:
Green Bay 2
New Orleans 4
Returns over 20 yards:
Green bay 23
New Orleans 26
Final thought: This post is so long because to be frank theres a lot to say and special teams plays a big part in games. There doesn't seem to be many mismatches this game. Saints could help there cause and i believe they will, by starting with good field position setup by their kickoff teams. I think punt and punt returns will go really to the book, green bay isn't good at returning but new orleans isn't good at covering, new orleans is good at returning but green bay is good at covering. The biggest mismatch here is that i'd take mason crosby to make a long more clutch field goal any day of the week. If it comes down to a kick look for the pack to win
