Why is that? 66% of the public is on Fairfield, so the line move looks fairly standard.

Because the pre-market number was 4.5. A two-point move isn't just the public pushing it anymore.

Is following line movement typically more effective once conference play begins? Since theoretically, the books should have a better handle on the teams/matchups and lines should become sharper?
Sorry about all the quetions. Like I said, I'm a noob when it comes to line movement plays.
