    I'm thinking of going big time again tonight, but this time with really safe odds on Kentucky.

    £1000 --> £1020 (2% profit)

    Although it's not a "big win" there, it looks so solid, I cannot see Kentukcy loses the game to Lamar, they might not cover the spread (22.5 points) but they can't lose it - you think this is a good one for tonight?

        It's just adding free money to your account. Nothing wrong with that.

        I always wonder though how many people ruined months/years of good bankroll management for "easy money" back in 07 on the Michigan moneyline vs App. State.

          Approx:

          $1550 to risk - to win $31 ... something like that.
          No fees by the way and no tax, that's the beauty of the UK with these things.

            What happened back in 2007 with this moneyline between Michigan and App. State? What was the spread back then, do you know?

              on Labor Day weekend, App State's football team (I-AA/FCS/whatever - lower division team) went into the big house and beat UM straight up in a game where there was not even a generally posted line (books don't normally carry lines on FBS vs FCS games, but some do). don't know what the spread was, but it would've had to have been about 30-35. can't imagine that there was a posted moneyline on that game, but yD's point is well-made - even the sure things are not sure things.

              it was a great day to be an Ohio State fan and drinking outside on the edge of Lake Erie, let me tell you. App State bookstore sold out of t-shirts within a couple of hours and those things were back-ordered for months, from what i heard.

                That was different back then:

                You can't compare such an important game between these two and also a football game to a basketball game where there's more power than brain. I played basketball in a team once, it is so much related to the talent of the players.
                Yes, there could be surprises but it's unlikely coz' it's not just 1 person vs the other, it's 5 against 5 and if 1 doesn't perform well there are others to substitute.

                I'm not saying it's 100% solid but in this case the 2% looks completely solid to me.

                  Football is about luck and not only about talent.
                  It involves power and pushing, and it's hard to bet in football on a team to win, I never bet on American Football simply because it's so hard to predict.

                  Basketball on the other hand is much more solid, it's all about who plays against who. In football the player itself has less value, it's more about the group and the mood of the quarterback who can ruin it for everyone ... in basketball if 1 is bad he goes out.
                  The only thing that could happen in basketball is having a game fixed.

                      i don't disagree. i just wanted to reminisce about that game. another important distinction: Rich Rodriguez isn't coaching UK tonight. am making a mental note to myself to remember to try and fade Arizona in Rich Rod's first game next fall.
