A large total here, but warranted given the pace of these two teams. VMI may have held two of its three opponents in the tournament in the 50s, but neither of them possess the firepower of this Asheville squad. The home standing top seeds have scored 177 points in their two games, while giving up 125. Asheville averaged almost 79 ppg during the regular season and have been better than that so far, while VMI has severely outperformed their regular season defensive #s that saw them give up close to 80 ppg. This isn't Radford. This isn't Winthrop. Asheville can and will knock down open shots. The Keydets have been on fire, shooting over 53% in their last two games. They'll need a similar performance to compete today. VMI has been playing every other day for a week, so they look like they can manage fatigue at this point and both teams have had a day of rest since the semifinals, so I am expecting a full performance here. Both regular season meetings finished in the 170s with the offenses ruling the roosts, hitting above 48% from the field in both games. Both teams also got to the line well with both games seeing close to 50 FTAs.

Meh. This K-State one is going to fall short me thinks. Fouls did not come like they did in the 1st half and K-State is one of the most foul prone teams out there too. Not going to get the benefit of much if any FTs. Only eight combined fouls after 20 in the 1st half.

Just concentrating on making sure the next one is a W, otherwise this could turn as bad as the other day. Although I liked everyone that was made today - can't always get 'em all when the game flow turns completely the other way w/fouls, etc. Also would not have expected Texas Tech to continue to shoot as well as they did in the 1st half. They've stayed about the same and Mizzou obviously is unstoppable. Based on the 1st half stats, it's one of those things you have to guesstimate as to whether there could be potential for improvement or a dropoff. With where these two were, everything seemed like it would be about average - expected Tech to fall off and Mizzou to improve and that to about cancel out.

IPFW +11 [-110]
The Mastadons go up against the top seed, Oral Roberts. ORU is a very efficient offensive club, but they also have a problem shutting teams down. In the two regular season meetings, the final margins of victory for ORU were four and eleven. IPFW has the ability to score, especially Frank Gaines. McCorkle could be the X-Factor for IPFW, he has played well lately. Oral Roberts has been grinding out wins down the stretch, but most have come by single digits. Likewise, even though they have lost eight of their last nine - the Mastadons have kept the majority of those to ten pts. or less. This team has a habit of playing Oral Roberts close over the years.

Mississippi State takes five shots in the last minute. I understand your scrubs are in for your last home game and want to score, but you give them one shot and then you run the clock out or you know maybe in a 25 pt. blowout put them in before 1:00 so they can spaz out before that. Of course with all that, the Arkansas kid still had to make the layup to beat the #. F-ing ugly ass day. 1-5 at this point overall.

IUPUI +9 [-110]The Jaguars played South Dakota State tough in both meetings this season. They took them to OT at home before losing by four and lost by eleven last week on the road on Senior Night for SD State where they trailed by just one at the half before losing out. It was IUPUI's third road game in a week and SD State was finishing a perfect 14-0 home mark, so some excuse can be given. Both teams are red hot on offense, shooting 50% or better in their last five. Both defenses have improved over their regular season marks in that span as well. IUPUI has covered seven of their last nine and SD State has covered six of their last nine. Both have great talents. IUPUI spearheaded by Alex Young and Nate Wolters being the man for the Jackrabbits. Both teams depend on their starts with a couple key components behind them. As Young goes, so should this game.
