    Ncaa over view
Hello everyone. It is almost basketball season! This is my favorite time of the year. The purpose of this is to see the individual view of every team. So if everyone could give a write-up of their favorite team, small college or big college, so we can all get some background knowledge on the NCAA teams. I would love to learn about many teams, also share knowledge on the team I know. I hope many will take part in this. And best of luck to everyone this basketball season!

My team is the Indiana State Syamores,

Key losses: Harry Marshall, Rashad Reed, and Coach Kevin McKenna. Key additions: Jake Kitchell, Lucas and Logan Eitel, and Jake Odum. Key returning players: Dwayne Lathan, Jake Kelly, Jordan Printy, Carl Richard.

Last season the team leader was Harry Marshall. Harry brought lots of energy to the Hulman Center. Harry could handle the ball and take it to the hoop, also getting to the foul line a lot. Harry also played great defense. Indiana State lost a great shooter in Rashad Reed. He was lights out from behind the three point line. Also leaving was head coacg Kevin McKenna. He left for an job at Oregon. McKenna was 43-52 in three seasons, and 17-15 (9-9 in MVC) last season. He took the team to their fist post season since 2001. Coach McKenna's system just started to click.
There are some great incoming players in Terre Haute this season. Some being redshirt freshmen. One being Jake Odum, a 6-4 guard. Jake is a great athlete and is very speedy. Along with him is two more redshirt freshmen, Logan and Lucas Eitel. These twins are not the best shooters, nor the fastest players. But their basketball IQ is out of this world, which is similar to Larry Bird. A true freshman, Jake Kitchell looks promising. He is 6-9 and can also shoot the ball. Hopefully he can boost the post play and paint defense for Indiana State, which they have lacked for the past few seasons.
The Sycamores have many key returning players. One of those players is Dwayne Lathan. Dwayne can jump out of the gym and run very very fast. He will be this years team leader and will bring the ENERGY to the team. Also returning is Terre Haute native, Jake Odum. He was an Iowa standout before transfering to Indiana State. His season was cut short last year due to a hurt knee. A great shooter also returns, Jordan Printy. He can shoot the rock with people in his face. Printy can shoot from the NBA three point line no problem. Also returning is Carl Richard. He can rebound like no other, but can score in large numbers.
Hopefully the Sycamores can have a great season. Also i hope this helps you while betting on Indiana State games. BOL to all you betters this season.

          Xavier Musketeers

Key loses: Jordan Crawford (obviously), Jason Love
Key Additions: SF Justin Martin (#86 recruit on Rivals), SG/SF Jay Canty (#122), PF Jordan Latham (#130), and PF Griffin Mckenzie

Last season was the first in the coaching career of head coach Chris Mack. This season, he leads an X team that will be searching for an identity early in the season. This is because leading scorer and offensive catalyst, Jordan Crawford, has left for the greener pastures of the NBA. Tu Holloway seems the obvious choice to step into the leading role, as he was the 2nd leading scorer on the team last year and was actually more efficient on offense than Crawford. What might arguably be as big of a loss as Crawford is big man, Jason Love. He was the third leading scorer on the team, one of it's leaders, and a staple in the paint for the Musketeers. Without him, X will be relying on big Kenny Frease to sure up the front court. The 7 footer had moments of brilliance last year, but for the most part was ineffective. He is entering his junior campaign with a different mindset. He's added muscle, but has actually lost 20 lbs in the process. I've even heard he's not walking around hunched over and actually utilizing his massive frame. Only time will tell if this will translate to the court though. Joining Frease and Holloway, in what I can only assume will be the starting line up, are Mark Lyons, Dante Jackson, and Jamel McLean. Lyons is a quick guard with very streaky shooting. Jackson, listed as one of the 16 most versatile players by espn, will line up as the third guard in the line up. He's a very good defender with a good shot from deep, and is the best defender on the team (followed by Holloway). McLean is a freaky athletic 6'8" PF, though not much of a threat outside 6 or 7 feet. He's the team's garbage man down low, but he can throw it down with the best of em. The back ups are led by Brad Redford, who is one of the best 3 point threats in the country. Andrew Taylor and Jeff Robinson will be used to spell Mclean and Frease when they need a break, but wont be relied on for much production. Other than that, the Musketeers will be relying on the incoming freshman to provide a decent amount of minutes to relieve the starters (probably 5-8 minutes a game to start the season). Look for the Musketeers to slightly struggle to begin the year, as they have again loaded the OOC schedule with quality opponents. After early struggles, look for them to get stronger as the season goes on. They'll overlook some teams and lose some games where they'll be 10+ pt favorites as they always seem to do in conference play. I'd say the ceiling for this team is a 4 seed and the basement would be a 12 seed come march. It wouldn't surprise me, or a lot of knowledgeable fans, to see X make it to the sweet 16 for the 4th straight year.

Just wanted to update a little on Xavier- Brad Redford is out for the year with a torn ACL. Justin Martin's eligibility has still not been determined by the NCAA. If he's ineligible, that's probably 10-12 pts/game between him and Redford that Xavier will have to make up for. If he is eligible, look for Martin and Canty to get an increase in minutes because of the injury to Redford.

EDIT: Martin was ruled ineligible for the year, leaving X with only 10 eligible/healthy scholarship players for the year
