    Daily CBB Thread - 12/14
For those interested in a daily CBB thread (see L'Kid's thread earlier this week), this is the first one. Please keep your own record and offer a sentence or two about your reasoning. This should also be a good place to post general thoughts on the card.

I'll post a pick later, but for now I'll offer the teams playing tonight with more than 5 days off since their last game:

    Georgia - 10 days
    Green Bay - 8 days
    MTSU - 6 days
    Belmont - 8 days
    Arkansas St - 11 days
    N Dak St - 7 days
    NAU - 9 days
    Mississippi St - 10 days
    Baylor - 11 days

Teams with big layoffs are 0-4 ATS the last two nights (Auburn, SCar, LSU, and Riverside)

    GL out there today!

Should be interesting to see the Belmont/Middle Tenn game tonight since both have
had long layoffs. Thanks for the info. I was leaning toward Mid Tenn, now not so
        sure.

SLU has major injuries for tonight's game at SIU. Spread has a 1.5 point difference depending on which book you're looking at right now. Highest line is already 2 pts higher than last night.

The long layoff games have all gone under so far too.

Not sure how much more time I'll have to look over today's games so I'll plagiarize my pick from my thread:

                8:00 MTSU/Belmont u142.5 -110
Should be a 65-67 possession game. Belmont is finishing finals today. Teams have been off for 6 and 8 days. Belmont relies heavily on he three, and MTSU guards the three well.

                0-0 (+0u)

Participation is lacking today. Maybe started too soon.

Anyway, NAU is another school with a big layoff and finals today. They also happen to be terrible with an average score of -11 or so, including their non-D-I win. UALR might be worth a look.

                      12/13/16

                      Play: MTSU -1.5 (-110)

As you saw above, both teams have had extended rest. The "rust" effect is generally more noticeable on the offensive end of the floor in bball. Defensive minded teams seem to be more immune to the "rust" brought on by rest. MTSU already comes in with a decided advantage on the defensive end and I expect that advantage to be magnified tonight. This game should be fairly close most of the way and teams that have the ability to buckle down defensively have the edge in those types of games. It's probably also worth noting that 2 of Belmont's 4 wins came over a bad 4-8 Lipscomb team.

SMC 1h -13 is my play today. SMC can shoot the lights out, and I don't anticipate the WKU squad will come outta the box ready for the speed, accuracy, and bball IQ of the Gaels- in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if SMC takes a 20 pit lead into the locker room at H/T but we shall see...good luck, guys.
