If anyone was following my 100 bet challenge, my buddy fell impatient (alcohol related, lol) and went all in on Missouri -1 a few weekends ago against Ole Miss in NCAAF, and covered easily. He then wired me $300 for my couple days work, and I'm pretty sure he's busted out since then. With that said, got a few plays for tonight:
1) Eastern Michigan +5.5 (1 Unit) UMass' first game as a ranked team in years, and they play a pretty respectable EMU squad away from home. EMU has been pretty solid at home and I was really impressed how they hung with Kentucky last week on the road. Their two leading scorers Lee and Ward went a combined 3-18 in the game, with 7 points.....and they were still only down single digits with about 10 mins left. I was impressed.....and I expect a bit of a letdown from UMass with about 10 days off, and some pressure starting to mount.
2) Penn St +14.5 (1 unit) A nice little outing at the Barclay's Center this past weekend for the Nittany Lions. Beat St. John's in OT and lost by 3 to Ole Miss. Penn St is putting up over 80 points per game right now and have all kinds of guys with experience from the last few years. Really like Tim Frazier running the point, who got a redshirt last year, while Newbill and Travis are giving him some nice support in both the scoresheet and on the boards. Pitt has been been impressive, winning by an average of 24 points in 7 games. Not sure how they aren't ranked right now! But still, you can't win big every game, can you?.....and 14.5 seems like too many points for a rivalry game, especially with Penn St playing a good brand early.
3) Middle Tennessee St -6.5 (1 unit) I love this spot for MTSU. Guys, they've won 41 of their last 42 games at home, which includes wins over some SEC and C-USA schools. There last home loss, was 2 years ago against Belmont. Belmont also beat MTSU in Nashville last year by 15. I'm going to forget about these two things, and say it's motivation for the Blue Raiders. The last two years MTSU has finished on the bubble, with last year resulting in a 1st round game with St. Mary's....so you can say both losses to Belmont hurt their season. MTSU returns 4 of their top 6 scorers from last year, so they remember Belmont quite well. They've gotten off to a bit of a slow start, as only 2 of their 5 home wins have been by double digits. Belmont has that nice road win over UNC on their resume, but an 8 point loss @ Richmond and 13 point home loss to VCU on Sunday are concerning. Quick turnaround for the Bruins here, and two starters (Bradshaw and Chamberlain) are both questionable. Tough spot for Belmont who is missing their top 3 scorers from last year, and possibly their 3 and 4 scorers this year....in what's going to be a very hostile environment.
Hoping to cash 2 of the 3.
