NBA 2011-2012 Regular Season Recap 4/3/2012

                        1 - 1 = -0.1x

                        NBA 2011-2012 Season

                        121 - 108 = +7.35x

Got lucky with a bad play on indy and unlucky with a great play on the magic under which beat the closer by almost 4 points. At least that indy win shows that variance might finally be on our side for awhile. Good luck on Wednesday.

                              NBA 2011-2012 Regular Season 4/4/2012

                              Play #1

                              Jazz (-6) 1x (Locked)

The Jazz have burned us so many times this year, but it's time to exercise the demons. Despite the injury to Harris, Bell and Howard, they remain the "deeper" team that I expect to take advantage when the second teamers are in the game. Phoenix is in a fatigue spot with 3 in 4 and b2b and even though they are 9-7 ATS on b2b this season, I do not expect that type of success tonight against a motivated Jazz team in the thin air of Utah. In the earlier game between these two teams this season, the Suns won by 9 as -4.5 favorites. In this game, the Jazz opened -5.5 and was immediately bet up to -6. This one has creeped up as high as -6.5 and is now starting to settle in at 6. Both the books and the early sharpies lean Utah and I have to agree. Even though the revenge angle is overblown in the NBA, I think this is a great revenge game with the Jazz catching the Suns in a bad situational spot. In addition, we have some slight quantitative value as well because the Jazz have a pronounced advantage offensively in the paint. I have this game set at -7 giving us just 1 point of value on this play, but I think any play at -6 or better is solid. Based on the foregoing, I am rolling with the Jazz for 1x. Good luck.

                                Spurs (-1) 1x (Locked)

While this might end up a very "public" play because of SA's recent dominance over the league, that does not mean the spurs wont win. In this game, the spurs are just too deep for this celtics team and we are getting solid value because of the spurs' b2b. However, I dont think that matters because of the blowout yesterday where the starters all played under 25 minutes. Quantitatively, the spurs dominate boston in most statistically significant categories on offense and even though boston has a much better defense, the spurs have improved on D from earlier in the year and are now top 12 in DEFF. Boston and Rondo especially love these big games but the spurs are fully healthy now and I think their bench will be the difference in this game. Boston just cant match up for a full 48 minutes despite allen's return. I have this game set at -2.5 based on the stats. I expect this to be a very close game, but with the spurs pulling it out late maybe even on the last shot (which is why I would not take this any worse than -1). Based on the foregoing, I am rolling with the spurs for 1x. Good luck.

Both Celtics and Spurs have been hot, but I like the plays. I just hope we don't find out late that they are resting players. I also like the Sixers/Raptors under and Bucks/Cavs over. Any lean on those games? I think the Sixers will come out strong defensively and desperate for a win. Cavs have given up and I see a similar kinda score as last nights Spurs game.

No time for a writeup, but we have two slow paced, defensive-minded teams playing on b2b where both teams have had trouble scoring. LTA, I wanted to say that I stopped tailing you for a while right before you hit your skid. After I stopped tailing, I had probably the worst run I have ever experienced and lost a lot more units than you did. I just have a lot of respect for you for keeping your cool during that time and not losing your ass as I was doing. Things have gotten better since I hit rock bottom and I have a good feeling your back on the way up too after your rough stretch.

I was also pleasantly surprised to see that 2 of my 5 picks for tonight were on your list as I have the Jazz -6 and 76ers Under as well.

                                                  I also have the Jazz U 201, TWolves -6 and Hawks -13.

Keep up the good work, man. Best of luck tonight and in the future.

I really think the Celtics are the play but i know zilch compared to LTA, i do watch the celtics every night and I do remeber quite a few battles between these 2 teams coming down to very close endings

Guys....if you dont like the spurs, you should follow your own gut. My model and my process says spurs, but you should do what you feel is best or you could grow to regret it.

Regardless, when you cap the game, you should NEVER let your "fandom" affect your decision. You need to cap each game impartially and your sole goal should be to earn profit, not to see your favorite team win. Sports investing is a cold-hearted business and there is no room for the "feelings" of a die-hard fan. Good luck

Was furthur distracted checking status on Rose. I know a bunch of people that follow this thread along with LTA are Bulls fans. Could be good news. If Rose doesn't play the next two games, I'm growing fairly confident that you will see him start next Tuesday against the Knicks. Great news that Rose participated in practice on Tuesday.

                                                                      Paste from Sam Smith's blog-

Forman said Richard Hamilton came out of Monday’s game well regarding his shoulder and the team is confident he will regain his timing soon. Also, Forman said Rose went through a thorough workout with the team for the first time since his groin injury against the Knicks March 12 and showed progress. Forman said it wasn’t inconceivable Rose could play soon, but didn’t state a definite date. Rose has been telling friends he’s anxious to go immediately.
But given the caution the Bulls have observed with what Forman called a severe groin injury — I heard the term abductor strain used and Rose has mentioned bleeding — it’s difficult to imagine Rose in his first game back in a month going against the swift Rajon Rondo. You’d think the Bulls might wait until Sunday or back home Tuesday against the Knicks and Baron Davis, who often uses a cane to walk during games.
“It was a pretty serious injury,” Forman acknowledged, though we sort of all figured that out by now. “He has made progress and continues to make progress. He has not hit any snags along the way, which is good. Today (Tuesday) he went through a full basketball workout. It was his first day on the floor going full speed as far as a basketball workout, running, shooting. No contact, but he seemed to do well. He was going full out for close to an hour. That was encouraging. So we’ll see how he feels tomorrow (Wednesday). We’ll see how he does in practice and then evaluate it. But we want to make sure he’s as close as possible to 100 percent before he is back playing. Assuming he goes through all this OK it’s an opportunity to be back soon.”
Forman said the team is encouraged everyone will be back at full health and with a regular rotation soon, perhaps in a week or so.

Was worried when I heard rumours that he would be struggling for the playoffs. I don't want us to rush him back but if we get him some minutes a few games before the playoffs then that would be great
