Age old saying, "lines makers did'nt make the over/under 184 because they think they will score only 179". I know everyone likes the under and thats even more of a reason to play on the over. Im taking a point off and Risking $130 to win $100. (3*)

you're buying a point on the total and laying -130 no less?????

I'll be your bookie with that type of betting mentality.

Where is the Don Juan police to arrest you and throw you in jail for that move???

Actually Betgameday has it at 178' I got $120 to win $100. You know what Ive been beat by a half point so mant times. It actually benefits you when the line is 5 points less than what it opened at.

BBear I hope it lands at 178 so I can at you, Its really ok to do it every once in a while. the half pt. is our worst enemy when the line is right on. Which does happen alot, but you know this already.

Everyone who has ever bet sports throught out the history of time loses by half a point, experiences unbelievable mooses, see FG kickers miss 24 yd chips shots, sees bullpens meltdown and give away leads, etc...

However, that doesn't justify paying -120/-130 on any total (or really side...maybe with the exception of "3" or possible "7" in an NFL game). If anything, you should be motivated to find reduced juice whenever possible. At -110, you have to win 52.38% of your bets just to break even. At -120, almost 55%, and at prices of -130 you'll be approaching almost 60% to break even. Not a winning formula for betting sides or totals.

If the total opened up 184 and you got 178 (-110 or < ). Congrats, you've already won. At this point there is no sense in even watching. You've beaten the opening number handly and gotten the best possible number out there and there is really nothing else you can do anymore other than just hope for the best.

            Good luck Big Cheese!....

Actually, I hope it's an easy winner for you bro so you don't have to eat that juice. But I hear you, every day the moose rears his head out.

The Texas/Boston game this afternoon is a perfet example of how the moose is always around. I would have been pissed if I had bet Texas.

Realistically though, if you are betting for entertainment purposes then no big deal...it's just a cheap thrill for a few hours. But for long-term success strategies, I wouldn't recommend buying points on totals.

Generally, an important rule of thumb is you never ever want to tease totals. Now that's not the same as buying points but the same principle more or less. Totals tend to be far more volatile than sides.

Good luck today with the over!....
