While schools like Duke, Pittsburgh, Kansas, Washington and Kentucky were expected to be at the top of the league, there are plenty of other teams that have made gamblers some nice money this season - if they’ve been smart enough to spot these surprise programs .

Connecticut Huskies

After missing the NCAA Tournament last season and graduating seniors Stanley Robinson and Jerome Dyson, the Huskies seemed like a safe bet to be fighting their way off the bubble this spring. The early emergence of Kemba Walker as a Player of the Year candidate shifted those expectations quickly, as Connecticut went from unranked to Top-10 in the time it took for them to dispatch Michigan State and Kentucky at the Maui Invitational. At 10-4-0 ATS, the Huskies have made trusting gamblers plenty of money. Like any decent Jim Calhoun team, the Huskies rank in the Top 15 nationally in rebounding and field goal percentage defense.

Alabama Crimson Tide

The Crimson Tide got pounded in the non-conference portion of their schedule, losing to every major-conference team they faced including bottom-dwellers like Providence, Seton Hall and Iowa. But the relative weakness of the SEC has them sitting atop the West Division after victories over Kentucky and South Carolina. Alabama does its best work at home, building up a 6-1-0 ATS mark in Tuscaloosa. The 68-66 victory over Kentucky came at Coleman Coliseum and the Crimson Tide will get Mississippi, Arkansas and Georgia at home down the stretch. Unimposing on offense, Alabama has been able to turn its season around with a defense that ranks in the Top 6 nationally in both points allowed and opponents’ field-goal percentage.

Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns were ranked 25th by the coaches in the preseason, behind Kansas State, Kansas, Baylor and Missouri among Big 12 schools. Texas’ success was a bigger surprise to handicappers, as the Longhorns have built up a 14-3-0 record ATS after pummeling Texas A&M, 69-49, in College Station Monday. Their defense has been the key, ranking in the Top 5 nationally in opponents’ field-goal percentage. Getting nearly 20 points and eight boards a night from Jordan Hamilton has certainly helped.

Florida State Seminoles

A win over Duke tends to make any team’s season a little brighter, especially in an ACC that has had only had one team consistently among the Top 25. That lone victory could go a long way toward helping the Seminoles take the conference. They lead the nation in field-goal percentage defense, holding opponents to a slim 35.1 percent, and crash the boards over 40 times per game to help make up for an offense that ranks in the bottom half of the NCAA in scoring and field goal percentage. That difference has led to plenty of close games and an 8-7-1 mark ATS.

Arizona Wildcats

The Pac-10 looked like Washington and not a whole lot else when the season started, but the emergence of Derrick Williams as a legitimate Top-5 pick in the NBA Draft has lifted the Wildcats from mediocrity to the top of the conference. Williams is averaging 19.8 points, 7.6 rebounds and shooting 63.8 percent from the field while helping Arizona build up an 18-4 record (12-8-0 ATS). Williams demands so much attention from defenses on the inside that the Wildcats’ shooters are usually open on the perimeter and rank 11th in the nation in 3-point percentage. They are even better at defending the three, topping the NCAA while allowing opponents to shoot just 26.7 percent from beyond the arc. Pouncey suffered what was deemed a high left ankle sprain in the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 23, with reports surfacing that the rookie also has a broken bone in his ankle.
He was wearing a boot during Tuesday’s media day at Cowboys Stadium and could practice later in the week depending on how his treatment continues to go.

Indy vs Minny you guys should take a look at the last game between these two school's!!! In that game Watford missed 11 of 13 shoots and his 4pts were not much of a factor!! Jones on the other hand scored 24 points and went to the free throw line a career-high 19 times in that match up and there should be more of concern if he doesn't play! I know Watford has been the man in the last 3 games avg 23 pts and 6 reb. Indy has already competed with Minny with out Watford ! The Hoosiers love the home cooking this year 11-2 and they are going for there 3rd straight win at Assembly Hall for the 1st time under Tom Crean! Minny on the road are 2-4 and they are with out senior guard nolan (broken foot) and Hofferbar taking over the role! This gives other teams the ability to double up Hofferbar easier. I like Indy tonight the spread hasn't moved and it should!gl

Maybe it's just me but i really don't think pouncey being out is going to be as big of a factor as everyone is making this out be. Legursky can get the job done. Clean up the center/qb exchange's and their good. I just feel this is being blown way out of proportion.

Not really but it will be tight and i think that +4 factors in AND 5 IN A ROW 1STTEAM EVER GETS them TO play hard for jimmyb and they will be under a scope tonight with points!
