OKLAHOMA CITY -- The New Orleans Hornets will play their relocated game Friday against the Sacramento Kings at the University of Oklahoma's Lloyd Noble Center, the team announced Monday.
The game had originally been scheduled at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La., but was moved last week. The Hornets were disappointed when only 7,302 fans, including many on free tickets, turned out for the team's first game at LSU in December and decided to move the game to Oklahoma, where average attendance has been 18,738 in 15 games.
"We are excited about this opportunity to bring Hornets basketball to Norman and the Lloyd Noble Center," Hornets president Paul Mott said in a news release. "After exploring options throughout Oklahoma, we have decided that playing in Norman is the best decision for our franchise and we look forward to showcasing the world's greatest athletes in one of the state's finest facilities."
Capacity for college basketball games at the Lloyd Noble Center is about 12,000, and tickets will be allotted to fans with season tickets or partial-season plans.
Proceeds from the game will benefit the Hornets' "Hoops for Homes" initiative, a partnership with Habitat for Humanity to build 20 new homes in New Orleans.
