Celtics Heat, Game 4

If your a stats guy, lets get these out of the way:

Boston has never swept a first round series in the history of the franchise
Miami lost for the first time in South Beach when D wade dropped 30 (11-1 when he drops 30 in the playoffs)
Heat bench scored 39 points in Game 3, more than Game 1 and 2 combined.
I'm not sure what the record is for teams down 3-0, with game 4 on their home court, but you might want to look into that.

Boston is going into this game with all the confidence they need. However, they're not taking anything for granted. From reading the comments of their players and coaches and watching their interviews, it's obvious that they're pretty determined to try and close this series out, and they're treating this game like a game 7.

I believe Wade has only gotten swept 1 time in his career in the first round (and that was when the Heat were much worse). Wade took terrible heat teams to games 7s with the Bulls and the Hawks in the past 2 years. This is not just a game for the Heat. This is not a game for Wade. This is a game for the team, the crowd, and all the members of the Heat organizations. I think the fans come out with more intensity tonight with the season on the line- more tickets, more noise considering it might be the last time they see their Superstar D wade on the court with the heat.

I believe Riley has every intention of bringing another superstar into miami, but the team needs to show Wade what they're about. Many of these players are going to be traded in the off season (O'Neal, Beasely, Richardson possibly)- Wade will decide who stays and who goes- these guys need to play their hearts out, and show Riley and Wade why they are worth keeping, and show Wade that this is where he belongs.

The Heat bench played excellent in Game 3. The Boston Bench only had 10 points- the thing about Rivers is he doesn't really know how to use his bench. Surprisingly, the Heat got to the line a decent amount, even with Wade not really attacking. Wade only accounted for 3 of the Heat's 17 FTs. He'll certaintly be more aggressive this game, and attempt 10+ FTs, and if other guys could get to the line like they were last game, the Heat are in very good shape. They haven't been outrebounded, they weren't out hustled last game, and they shot over 50%. The problem was the offensive rebounds they gave up (although they had 9 of their own) and the turnovers they committed (16). These issues are something coaches can fix.

Beasely played very well last game and that is a good sign for the Heat because he is an extremely streaky player and should carry that hot shooting into tomorrows game. He hit big shots down the stretch, which should be huge for his confidence. Richardson and J O'Neal (2 of the Heats most important players) combined for 7 points on 3-13 shooting and they were both benched for the majority of the second half. These guys are veterans, and benching them like Spolstra did should be a wake up call for them. O'Neal is having the worst performance of his playoff career- it's hasn't even been bad, it's been horrid. There's no way he can play any worse than he did. It's amazing that the Heat were even able to lose that game by only 2 with two of their best players producing absolutely nothing.

Pierce, KG, Allen, have all played extremely well throughout this series. I think Spolstra figures things out for this game (he has accepted much of the heat after that loss considering he didn't foul Pierce with a foul to give). I think Arroyo will come out guarding Ray Allen to conserve Wade's energy, and Wade will guard Rondo to prevent easy penetration and wade will give him the jumper all day cause he can't shoot for shit. Richardson and Darrel Wright will take turns guarding Pierce, and it's not going to be as easy for him this time around.

It's very likely that the Celtics can sweep this series, but I would give the edge to Miami in this one. Not that there is anything on the line- but players competing for jobs next season...and the crowd...and the possibility of this being D Wade's last game in South beach....Miami needs to give it everything they have in this game, not just to insure a victory and extend the series, but for all the reasons listed above.

this series is over... the heat will try to fight elimination, which is why i like the over as well, but the old green men are looking to go home and rest for a day or so instead of going home for gm 5

Well I just presented the arguments from both sides, and left it up to you to decide. I thought it'd be a close game, but I personally bet the heat. I wasn't trying to convince you, just present valid arguments.
