Much has been written about the infamous missed dunk in Game 5. That directly or indirectly fired up Miami and their crowd in Game 6 and the Heat demolished the Hawks. Smith had a forgettable performance as he has on the road in this series mostly. Lucky for him, Game 7 is at home. The same home court where he's had his three best games of the series, 23, 17 & 20 points. It will be a fine line for Smith in this game. Surely, he will want to atone in a big way for all the hullabaloo following the Game 5 missed dunk and the subsequent backlash in Game 6. The key here is that Smith has to have that controlled aggression that suits his game. He's not going to sit back and nail jumper after jumper. But the guy is going to get shots on Sunday. He's taken at least 13 in every game and remarkably took 14 each in Games 1-4. The thing Smith must to to surpass this number - go to the rack. That's his game. Sure, he has to take the open jumpers when they present themselves ... and they will in the half court, but to get him going early I think the Hawks will try and get both Smith & Joe Johnson headed to the basket. And then the big thing, knock down the free throws!
Not going real big on this, but I think if the Hawks are going to have a shot to win ... Smith has to score.
