It's no surprise that since replacing Kevin Garnett in the starting lineup, teams have chosen to let Davis be the guy who hurts them while trying even more to lock down Pierce, Allen & Rondo. Davis has taken no less than a dozen shots in any of the first four games as a result and often is the guy who has the ball late in the shot clock for an open jumper. The question simply is can he knock down enough of his looks to get past this number? So far, the answer is yes as he's surpassed this total in 3 of the 4 games. Game 4 was the only one he failed to get at least 14 points and that was due to poor shooting, not a lack of looks as he went 4 of 16 from the floor, finishing with 10 points. Now back in Boston, that should help Davis get into his comfort zone again as he scored 44 points combined in Games 1 & 2 on 18 of 36 shooting. Big Baby has been a key cog here down the stretch and into the playoffs for the Celtics as he's taken no less than 12 shots in 8 straight games dating back into the regular season. Davis has surpassed tonight's number in 6 of the last 8 games he's played in. If he stays out of foul trouble, he should log minutes in the upper 30s or more which would help the cause. So long as he continues to get at least a dozen shots and can get to the free throw line a bit, I think he's got a legit shot to get this.
The juice on this blows at my book, but I'm still on it at -145.
