If I've got this figured correctly, there are only a handful of games that matter tonight. The rest of them will be nothing more than glorified pre-season contests.
These games either determine seeding and/or home court advantage and in the case of the Cavs, league history.
Cleveland vs. Philadelphia. A win would give the Cavs a 40-1 home record equaling the best record in NBA history. Plus Philly needs everything to break right to avoid a first round matchup against the Celtics.
Denver vs. Portland. The Nuggets can lock up the #2 seed with a win or Rockets loss.
Houston vs.Dallas. The Mavericks can finish as high as 6th but they would need a win tonight and a New Orleans loss to San Antonio. Meanwhile the Rockets, depending on how things play out, could be anywhere from 2nd-5th.
New Orleans vs. San Antonio. I know this much. If the Spurs win and the Rockets lose, SA will be the third seed. In that scenario, the Spurs would meet the Mavericks while the Hornets would face Denver in round one of the playoffs. HOWEVER a loss by Tim Duncan and company would mean a 5th seed and no home-court advantage.
Chicago vs. Toronto. This is another game that affects seeding. The Bulls are in. The question is who and where will they play.
Only three series are set:
Lakers vs. Jazz
Cleveland vs. Detroit
Atlanta vs. Miami
I hope this helps.
By this time tomorrow we'll have it all sorted out.
