Its getting ugly out there...How much patience do Laker fans have? Lets look and see what the fans are saying...LOL
The Lakers are so dysfunctional from Kobe to Jim Buss to Byron. They didn't build an NBA team, they built a mausoleum for Pharaoh Kobe. The rest of the players are just pets and servants slaughtered and buried with Kobe to keep him company in his afterlife.
No matter what happens, the last few minutes of the game turns into Kobe iso after Kobe iso. Everyone else gets blamed for losing except for Kobe.

Big critic of his, but completely unfair to compare the two. I actually like Mchale a lot as an individual, and he isn't scared of calling everyone when need be...and the players do respect him. Scott aka Sargent Doakes, tough guy portrayal, is just a terrible coach hanging by Kobe's scrotum. He has tried to pretend that Kobe's horrid and selfish play isn't part of the current problem. In the process, he starts taking a dump on the rest of the team and says they aren't playing hard enough. When you've already picked sides, choosing to be Kobe's bitch so you can keep your job, alienating the rest of the team by putting salt on the wounds, making a statement after every loss...just seems extremely stupid.
What a weird season though. It's hard to imagine that a team losing Pau but adding Kobe would be substantially worse esp when that same Pau played in a system that didn't work for him.
Then, you had the question marks on Kobe's health, but so far, with a lot of season left mind you, he looks healthy enough to beat the 22/5/4 on 43%-44% shooting (in 32 mpg) I had him pegged for. (Lots of season left though). Yet, I'm not sure I have ever seen an NBA scoring leader have such little actual impact. If you restart the season without Kobe and say, a slightly better coach, we could easily match a 3-13 record. We're on pace for 15 wins right now, with the NBA scoring leader? Just weird man.

Who cares?
It's a cumulative all-time record and a regular season record at that. Even when Kobe passes Jordan, he'll still be behind Karl Malone, a noted choker.
Jordan still has a much better PPG and FG%, so it's not like Kobe will have proven himself to be a better scorer.
The record is utterly meaningless, especially since it's only a regular season accomplishment, something us Lakers fans have never cared about.
Kobe is killing himself pursuing it. I don't get it. I think Kobe could possibly be an effective player at 39-40, so why doesn't he limit himself to 25-28 minutes per game in these down years (which would STILL get him past Jordan) in the interest of being fresh in a couple years when the Lakers can possibly put a decent team together, and Kobe finishes his career at least in the playoffs, even if it's as an 8th seed (this franchise is years from championship contention, so there will no one last run for Kobe, but at least he'll bow out gracefully from the NBA in the post-season rather than on a lottery team, even if he's in a 6th man role at that time).
