TORONTO -- The Toronto Raptors signed Slovenian forward Uros Slokar to a one-year contract on Thursday, making him the latest European to join the team.

Toronto selected Slokar with the 58th overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft.

The 6-foot-11 Slokar played for Italy's Benetton Treviso the past three seasons and participated in the Raptors' entries in two summer leagues in 2005.

Slokar averaged 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in the Summer Pro League and 10.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in the Minnesota Summer League.

He averaged 4.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 45 games in 2005-06 with Benetton, where new Toronto assistant general manager Maurizio Gherardini was the GM.

The signing adds to the already European feel to the Raptors. General manager Bryan Colangelo selected Italian Andrea Bargnani with the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft and then signed Anthony Parker, an American who had played the last six seasons in Israel with Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

Colangelo acquired Slovenian center Rasho Nesterovic in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs and signed Spanish forward Jorge Garbajosa. Toronto's roster also includes Spanish guard Jose Calderon.

Slokar replaces forward Pape Sow on the roster. Sow broke his neck while practicing for Toronto's summer league team in Las Vegas.
