    Tuesday's NBA Tip Sheet

    **Nets at Heat**

    –Las Vegas Sports Consultants installed Miami as a 6 1/2-point home ‘chalk’ over New Jersey, with the total set at 192. This Eastern Conference contest is scheduled to begin at 8:05 p.m. ET, with TNT providing coverage. There is no longer a series price since the Heat own a 3-1 lead.

    –New Jersey (54-38 straight up, 43-47 against the spread) has its collective backs against the wall since suffering Sunday’s setback to Miami as a four-point home favorite, 102-92. The combined 194 points eclipsed the 189-point closing total, helping the ‘over’ cash the third straight contest.

    –The Nets are now mired in a three-game SU and ATS losing skid after shooting 43 percent (36-of-84) in the Game 4 setback. New Jersey did enjoy a rebounding advantage, 48-39, and points in the paint, 44-34. Vince Carter led the team in scoring the fourth straight contest by pouring in 26, while Nenad Krstic added 20 and 14 rebounds.

    –Miami (59-33 SU, 42-48 ATS) prevailed by shooting a solid 53 percent (37-of-70) from the field, and 42 percent (8-of-19) from behind the arc. Guard Dwayne Wade stepped up with 31 points and eight assists, while Udonis Haslem contributed 20 and 11 rebounds.

    –The Heat are now 7-1 SU the last eight postseason games against the Nets, and can advance to the Eastern Conference finals for the second straight year with another victory.

    –New Jersey is a modest 23-23 SU and ATS on the road, with the ‘under’ going a robust 28-18. The Nets have been dropping those affairs by an average score of 93-92.

    –Miami sports a 35-11 SU home record, but is just 19-25 ATS. The ‘over’ is 26-19 during those games, with the Heat winning by an average score of 103-96.

    –New Jersey forward Cliff Robinson has been suspended for five games.

    **Clippers at Suns**

    –LVSC opened Phoenix as a five-point home favorite over Los Angeles, with the total set at 215 ½. TNT will provide coverage of Tuesday’s Game 5 beginning at 10:35 p.m. ET. This best-of-seven series is now tied at two games apiece, and the Suns are now a $1.75 ‘chalk’ (bet $175 to win $100) to win this series while the Clippers are a $1.55 underdog (bet $100 to win $155).

    –Los Angeles (53-38 SU, 47-43 ATS) evened its best-of-seven series with Phoenix Sunday by prevailing in Game 4 as a 4 1/2-point home favorite, 114-107. The combined 221 points toppled the 211-point closing total, helping the ‘over’ improve to 3-1 this series.

    –The Clippers dominated rebounding once again, 55-37, while finishing the contest by shooting 49 percent (42-of-86). Center Elton Brand has been unstoppable this series, getting 30 points, nine rebounds and eight assists while Sam Cassell added 28, 11 and nine.

    –Phoenix (60-33 SU, 50-42 ATS) shot 46 percent (40-of-88) in the loss, and 28 percent (10-of-36) from 3-point land. Guard Raja Bell paced the offense with 33 points, while Boris Diaw added 21 and eight assists. Point guard Steve Nash struggled at times with just eight points, but he did deliver 11 assists with just two turnovers.

    –The ‘over’ is now 6-1 the previous seven games between the Clippers and Suns.

    –Los Angeles is 22-23 SU and 24-20 ATS away from home, with the ‘over’ going 24-20. The Clippers have alternated wins and losses both SU and ATS the last six meetings with the Suns.

    –Phoenix sports a 35-12 SU and 25-22 ATS home ledger, with the ‘over’ going 26-20. The Suns have been winning those affairs by an average score of 110-100.

    –Los Angeles center Zeljko Rebraca (heart) and forward Chris Kaman (shoulder) are ‘questionable’ Tuesday versus the Suns.

    Good info. I feel Kaman will play. Must win game for both teams. Loser will be facing elimination.
