Lakers @ Rockets (what will the line be?)
I don't see an official line anywhere although I've seen here & there that the line is "Even" (PK). I think that any oddsmaker that stated Even is not factoring in the absence of 3 of LA's big men (Howard, Gasol, Hill). What do you guys think the actual line will be? -7, maybe -8?

The line should open at -5 to -6 (Rockets) all things taken into consideration.

Do you have any reason not to play the Rockets then?

Total should be around 212-214. This will easily fly over with Lakers playing small lineup and they're gonna run run run for the next two games. Even with the injuries, Lakers could still cover the 5 point spread btw.

No way the Lakers can keep up playing small ball. I'd take a hot Houston if it's at -5.

I predict the biggest total we've seen this season. Guessing 216ish. And I'm likely going to be playing it.

I agree. The Laker era is over & the Rockets are more likely to beat them by double digits. I like the Over on this game as well as long as Vegas doesn't set it too high. The Rockets absolutely destroyed the Chicago Bulls on the road a couple weeks ago and Chi is typically a very good defensive team (they beat Miami a few days ago as well). If the Rockets could do the Bulls like that, the undermanned Lakers should be no contest unless Kobe goes off for 40+ points or something.

Please further explain this statement. 2 years removed from back 2 back titles. It's not like they won last year. And it's not like they won't win again within the next 10. The Lakers era is never over. What other NBA franchise has a dynasty in every decade? Who are the last 2 teams to repeat? Who's the last team to 3 peat?

Come on son. The recent Laker era, as entertaining as it was, is basically coming to a close. Look at how mediocre they are this year even with a supposed all-star lineup. As soon as Kobe throws in the towel in a couple years it's a wrap. Lakers will need to re-invent themselves like many other teams (including large market teams) have had to do over the years.

How many more decades do you need to realize that the Lakers ALWAYS put themselves back on the map. Everyone said it was a wrap when Shaq left. When kobe leaves there will be another star. This is LA SON. Not Denver.

No book had the line at even after the injuries happened.

If there ever was a PK line, it was with Howard, Gasol, and Hill expected to play.

The Lakers can't put an NBA lineup out there.

somewhat hindsight now (although the spread completely jumped out at me) but who was to say that the lakers wouldn't play better just with kobe and nash? it obviously hasn't been working with 4 stars, and i think kobe is by far the key guy for the lakers (or can do best on his own)

I agree...For as long as I been watching the NBA...the Lakers have at least made the playoffs on the 8th seed in their darkest Nick Van Exel days. They never really hit rock bottom like the Celtics did. Players want to go play there. Even though I hate them. But if the Clippers stay together..Lakers would have to answer to them for a long time.

@GoJets Please.....Kobe is 34 and Nash is almost 40...knew they won't last a whole game running and gunning with Harden and Lin. So much for the "dream team" ala Eagles..Really they only had 1 star before D12 and Pau got injured..and they still have 1 now. That's Kobe. Dwight wasn't at 100% at all..and Pau was messed up in the head.

I hate to break it to you, but the Laker Era ended when Phil Jackson left (and was confirmed when Mike D was hired as the head coach). Once Kobe retires (which I imagine real soon, maybe this year), the dagger will be put in the Laker Franchise. Kinda reminds me of the Raiders in football (a once great team, that only has their past and great fans holding them up). I think Laker fans are going to be in for some tough times the next 5-10 years (but you guys deserve it lol). Clippers will win a title before the Lakers win another one.
