Hey Cane. Do you remember a dog named Runaround Sue?

    Great dog.

Some of those raced in Colorado. I saw the great Molotov's career of only 5 races. I even had show tickets on the field in the race he got injured. A pretty innocent looking bump. Don't think there's any dog who earned such high acclaim in such a short career.

I love Wheeling. Then I hit the simulcast and bet on Phoenix and Southland all night. SAVE DOG RACING! Organize events at your nearest tracks, you'd be surprised how many people will go back!

tracks need to lower the vig and embrace gamblers. Otherwise it's hopeless.

I am going to ask again.

Is there anything new about the Masachusett's petition on keeping the greyhound racing tracks going or are they going to close up next month?

There was a really cool greyhound who raced in England in the mid-80's called Scurlogue Champ. He would give the field about half a lap head start and then come charging home to win, this dog I swear was just toying with the other dogs and playing it up for the crowd.

You can see a bunch of his races at Youtube, here is an example

They are closing Phoenix Greyhound Park at the end of the year. My parents used to take me there when I was a kid about 35 years ago. Used to get $2 bills, thought that was the greatest thing.
No slots here at the horse or dog tracks because of the stinking Injuns, and help making a landmark like PGP close up. Too bad!! I'll miss seeing all the same degenerates that hung out on the lower level everytime I went.

I remember two dogs. Coldwater Tom who won a shitload in a row. We made sure we were there when he raced.
Then another dog called "Monkey Troubles" this dog would trail the field by like 25-30 lengths in the beginning, then like kick it on in the backstretch. Alot of times he won passing them all. That was the craziest frggin dog I'd ever seen.

Wheeling is now the best place to play dogs. Largest purse structure, nice track, good pools, good announcer. Plus they now have a nice casino with a good poker room.

Do any of you guys remember a dog by the name of My Totem?

He ran down in Florida and would be in the lead by 20 lengths at the tote board and would finish out of the money. Unbelievable.

One night we were having a few cocktails and bet a Trifecta all/all/My Totem.

    We hit for $950.

Yeah, I used to play the dogs for a living, before sports but after horses. Tj, Derby Lane, Jacksonville, and the other one in Florida.

I can think Red Dirt Road. LA School Girl (tj). All the Hallo, UCME dogs, man Im foggy right now.

Of course the kennels are pretty spartan for the dogs. I'd adopt 1000 of em if I had a huge ranch in Montana, but I don't think my landlord would let me bring in a bunch of dogs.

I am curious. Have any of you guys ever been to Sodrac Park in North Sioux City, South Dakota?

Back in the old days Sodrac drew some serious crowds. They would come up from Kansas City and Omaha.

Yeah, those payouts get sloppy though. They can give out some serious dough when everyones sleepin. Compared to stingy horse tracks. Some times its real tight, and not worth it.
I don't know if they are cute, but my neighbor has one and they are pretty bad ass. They like to sleep and then haul ass, but he never lets it run.
My other neihbors had salukis and they liked to haul ass around the backyard at 80 mph.

Colorado is done racing. Mass. is done at the end of the month.

Very sad to see a great sport going down the shi tter.

Yes, box the 1-2-7 on busy nights and use the rewards card.

    Try to attend promotional nights.

I like the $1 hot dog and $1 beer nights coupled with drawing giveaways.

I owned over 80 dogs ,and for those who believe its not fixed sorry its as crooked as a country road ,there are at least 5 ways to fix racing the easiest and most basic is to get sandpaper sandthe dogs paws front and back on the left side of the dog ,this is where he has weight on left side around turns it take enough off him to drop from first to fouth or fifth .this way it looks like a bad night and no one inspects to closely. if anyone wants to know more message me I have great stories from 40 years ago.

Well, Raynham is officially closing this Saturday the 26th.

Kind of sad to see it close. I have been playing Raynham at the OTB for over 20 years. I really liked the track. Seemed to do alot better there than at some of the Florida tracks.

I love going to the track. It isn't far from the house, and as stated above, seems to be the only sport left that isn't fixed.

I adopted 2 retired racers several years back. Best damned dogs I ever had. Loved them every minute until they passed. I would love to adopt more, but I have to lose my current gf and her 5 dogs first...

you can feed the dogs a shitload of puppy chow b4 they run too... sorry to burst the bubble.

anyway, still some insane payouts on an 8-dog race sometimes. You get a feel eventually when the track is gonna spill out huge. It's a crack rush winning big at the dogs. hate to say it, that is the biggest rush from gambling. big dog wins.

speaking from experience .. dogs were routinely fixed years ago.
bad food giving them diarrhea was the trick in RI at Lincoln Park (now Twin River).

sad to see all these dog tracks close.
wisconsin had 5, now they're all closed
    colorado's are all closed
    phoenix
    etc etc etc

seems like any "fun and/or intelligent gambling" gets outlawed (sports, dogs, horses, poker) while mindless, addictive, destructive gambling like slots gets expanded.

gd point mike. The only purpose is to fleece the public as quickly and easily as possible. Then, move on to the next thing. Casinos and gambling in general is at the peek of popularity right now. But, that too will fade (also mostly due to sloppiness, greed, and lack of respect) and the corporations will move on to bleed some other activity they can hype up to the dumb down masses.
