john bothe is repititous and boring. same call every time coming into stretch. i have to turn the sound down to avoid listening to him he is so bad. bob "the bullet" meyer is much better altho exiled from yonkers to saratoga. lederman tries to hard to be comedian. act getting stale. that old meadows guy should hang it up too. same call again and again.

It's Larry Lederman by about 17 lengths, rarely a dull race when he calls 'em, but why did he park himself at Freehold of all places?

Lederman is by far the best, i used to love as a kid, he'd do Garden State and Atlantic City Thoroughbreds all year long.. He still does PARX occasionally when Freehold is closed..

Omg, Garden State with Lederman.. When a horse had a big lead down the stretch he would always says "And Kesmodel has the engines shut down..."

the former deep voiced announcer at northfield park was hilarious.he would start out calling races 1 thru6 very well and professional, but, around races 6 till close he would start calling with the slurred speech thing.us regular guys would have a lot of laughs listening to his calls.i wish he would come back.i miss him.

"......and they're throwing everything but the kitchen sink at him....."

Joe Anderson had a horse named Clancy that would win frequently. When they were coming down the Sportsman's stretch and it was evident Clancy was going to win, Gil Levine would break into song singing " Oh that Clancy Oh that Clancy Whenever they got his Irish up Clancy lowered the BOOM " and he would time the boom for when the horse hit the wire.

The announcer is only good part of harness racing. Chains on their legs to race? They should put chains on all althletic competions baseball, football, basketball they could all compete with chains on their legs.

Gil would always start the night with " Hello friends" You could pickup the in-house phone, ring the announcers booth, tell Gil you had a beer for him and he would say " comon up"

Robin Burns was the greatest race caller in terms of humor and pure entertainment that I ever heard call a race!
It was so enjoyable to listen to him at Laurel,Pimlico, as well as Freestate.

now going to the worst announcers - easily Mike Battaglia at turfway and I know I may be the anti-christ, but i cannot stand trevor denman.. he's too contrived and scripted for me

the best harness caller jack e lee of roosevelt the best story about him when mike lachance was on a 3-5 shot and lost he forgot to turn off the mike and said go f### yourself lachance never forget it that is probably why he got fired from roosevelt after announcing so long there

Everytime I hear Battaglia shout into the mike screaming deliriously I puke.

I liked the old Hazel Park announcer ( Jack Riggs) I think. I liked John Bothe just because I remember when I was a kid one of my dad's horses came form last to first and he gave his patented zooooooooming bye call which gave me goosebumps at the time.

Sam McKee calls a good race and so does Greg Blanchard at Western Fair.

Annoying= Roger Huston only can stand him on Jug Week

Greg Young, former announcer at Northfield Park.

I am a bit bias though since i live 1.3 miles from the track.

It didnt matter if it was the biggest race of the year, The battle Of lake Erie or the 3rd race on a Monday night he called every race like it was a stakes race.

you have no idea how good he actually is until the last race and the fagula with the "lithsp" tries his hand at calling a race....then and only then do you realize the talent which held the mic previously.

Greg Young, former announcer at Northfield Park
is that the half dead guy that started giving you the order of racers at the 3/4 pole and by the time he ran through the line up the first place horse crossed the wire or he was passed or there was a blanket finish and all he ever said was...."and there they are".....he SUCKED! dont know his name-dont care to but he was the most annoying ever. he's out of work for a very good reason.

Thats funny, I remember JOhn Bothe for one thing - "And Red Bow Tie wins the Presidential Final" (or one of the other 9 million races RBT won)
