Flames/Sharks

If you haven't heard about it, let me recap that yesterday, history was made at the expense of the San Jose Sharks. Although the forwards of the Northern California club worked hard and manage to riddle the Oilers with 59 shots, they were blanked in a historic performance by Ben Scrivens. The Oilers netminder became the first goalie of the expansion era to record 59 saves in a shutout. Tonight the Sharks will look to test their luck just 200 miles south, as they visit the lowly Calgary Flames in hopes of erasing last night's memory.

Unfortunately, things may not be in favor of San Jose tonight.

Anyone who watched the game last night knows that the Sharks were really beginning to experience some fatigue as the game went on. They worked hard and generated numerous opportunities, but ran into a wall. They are also banged up on offense, and the main core of their current forwards are coming into their mid 30s.

Although Calgary may not have the offensive potential that Edmonton has, they do tend to play top teams very strongly. Tonight will be no different. They should take advantage of a very tired Sharks team.

On an interesting note, the line opened at +155 for the Flames moneyline on many books. Despite the breaking announcement that Mike Cammaleri will not return to the Flames lineup tonight, the line has been drastically moving in favor of a Flames win, and has reached as far as +120 in several books. If this does not suggest that the Sharks are at a disadvantage coming into this back to back, I really don't know what does....
