    Bryzgalov to Edmonton
    Since nobody posted it yet...

Ilya Bryzgalov reaches agreement with Oilers

he Edmonton Oilers announced Friday they have reached a verbal agreement with goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov on a one-year contract. The agreement is pending the completion of a trade between the Oilers and Calgary Flames announced earlier Friday.

Bryzgalov was a member of the Anaheim Ducks' 2007 Stanley Cup-winning team and won a bronze medal playing for Russia in the 2002 Winter Olympics. He became a free agent during the summer when his contract was bought out by the Philadelphia Flyers, who signed him to a nine-year deal in the summer of 2011. "We get a goaltender that has a history of being a high-performer in parts of his career," Oilers general manager Craig MacTavish said, "and we get a guy who I think that's very motivated and he's going to have a chance to be a good goalie."
The native of Togliatti, Russia, has a 208-149-45 record in 425 regular-season NHL games with a goals-against average of 2.55, a .913 save percentage and 30 shutouts.
Bryzgalov in the Stanley Cup Playoffs has a 17-19 record with a 2.81 GAA, a save percentage of .908 and three shutouts.
The Oilers traded defenseman Ladislav Smid and minor-league goaltender Olivier Roy to the Flames in exchange for two minor leaguers, goaltender Laurent Brossoit and forward Roman Horak.
Since Edmonton is so good at defense they decided they don't need Smid anymore. They also added Bryz to their collection of top league goaltenders.

Hmm... They did need a goalie change for sure. You think he will play tomorrow against his former team - Philly.

Would have been the best thing ever if he played tomorrow vs Philly but he unfortunately won't. Anyway, this should be entertaining. Can't wait for more of those hilarious interviews.

Oh, and the Oilers will still be a garbage team after this. Even if Bryz plays well, their problems are bigger than goaltending.
