    MLB, NHL Database Help
    Hey guys,

I'm trying to make an MLB and an NHL Moneyline database. I want to include: Home team, Road team, open and closing lines, Home score, Away Score, and Betting Percentages.

I am a tech moron. I have an idea of how to import the teams, open and close lines, and scores (I think), but have no idea how to import the betting %s without just inputting them. SportsInsights offers databases for $100 per sport or $200 for all sports, which I have been considering purchasing, but I wanted to explore the possibility of making my own first...

Anybody know of a place to get the betting percentages that will import into Excel?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I know im an idiot when it comes to this.

    Thanks guys and GL,
    Beast

You mean the data about who the 'public' is supposedly betting?

There's really only two options. First is to buy the package. $200 is not bad for all sports. My big question, though, is what book they use for opening and closing lines. Second is to read http://forum.sbrforum.com/handicappe...-research.html and learn how to use scrapy in Python. I've spent about 30-35 hours so far working on importing lines data using scrapy, and I've gotten to the point where I have all data for MLB seasons back to 2007 from http://www.sbrforum.com/mlb-baseball/odds-scores/. There are no betting percentages, though, so if you don't want to put in the time then you should just go and buy the packages.

It always grinds my gears, when people call excel spreadsheets 'databases'
