By ROI I would assume that you are referring to the books hold percentage????

If that means the amount they make per game on average compared to the amount wagered then yes.

        4% is what Nevada holds.

Find a listed sportsbook - there are plenty in the UK.

          Read their annual report.

That may give you a clue. Otherwise, assume it's about equal to their overround (more if they take sides a lot and are good at it less if they aren't).

Most sportsbooks hold LESS than their theoretical hold for a wager. For example, you would expect a book to hold 4.5% on sides. Most books probably hold about 3.5% -- this is due to wise guys, and/or having bad positions after line moves.

Parlay and exotic holds are obviously much higher.

thanks Justin. You are a big help and I really appreciate it. So do you think the hold for hockey is even lower since it probably attracts a higher % of sharps then say the NFL? Also, where did you get this information if you don't mind my asking?

Yes, I think Hockey would be tougher. In some cases, books can have negative holds. This is especially the case in smaller markets.

I talk to a lot of different sportsbook management about all sorts of issues. I keep my ears open about anything they say.

Hold percentages for UK High Street bookmakers is amazingly high, upwards of 7% IIRC.

Bear in mind that the majority of bets they take are on three-way soccer lines (mostly parlays too) as well as Horse Racing and Greyhound Racing which have massive overrounds (30%+ in most cases).
