    Line Changes...
At the professional books (bookmaker, greek, pinnacle, etc.): If I bet the maximum amount allowed for a straight wager - $5,000 (ML) at +115 for the LA Dodgers to win - I've maxed out the book's limit.

If the line goes up to +109 after I laid my action at +115, could I bet another $5,000 at the new price for the Dodgers to win.

With each line change, can I add more money to what is essentially the same wager?

pinnacle will let you bet a max bet as many times as you want -- they will change the odds most likely after every bet

That's how most books do it I thought...

So I could keep on betting the maximum amount on a particular side at the Greek (for example) as long as the line changes?

At some books, a $500 limit means once you bet $500 on the game you’re done. At some books it means you can bet $500 at each line/juice combination, so if it moves, then yes, you can bet again. At some books it means you have to bet in maximum $500 increments, but you can bet as many of them as you please, regardless of whether the line moved.

I don’t know from memory which books do which, so others will have to respond as far as the specifics. But it is not the case that there is some universal practice in the industry. And I don’t believe it is universal even in the subset of “professional” books.

The best thing to do is to e-mail the books you are interested in and get their policy in writing.

WSEX allows multiple max bets whether or not the line is adjusted.

Greek will let you max bet as long as the odds have changed.

Pinnacle will let you max bet as many times as you like. Depending on the event they may put a 45-60 delay between bets, or they may let you do it again right away. As Durito said, the line will most likely change and than you can hit it again.

As for Cris, i've had it more often than not that once i bet the limit on the event i cannot bet anymore, tho i believe others have had a different experience in regards to that.

Right. I would add though that the WSEX software blocks making the identical bet unless you wait at least five minutes.

So if the limit is $500 and you want to bet $1,000, you can either bet $500, wait five minutes, and bet $500 again, or you can bet $500, then immediately bet $400, then immediately bet $100.

Of course the line or juice might change in between your bets, so there's no guarantee you'll get the whole $1,000 down at the original line.

Yes! I totally forgot to mention that. It's better now that you can bet custom amounts. So if the limit $2500 and you want $5000, you can do $2499, followed by $2500.
